Default Advice on ZO6 purchase

Hey guys, so I've been eyeing a few 2017/18 zo6's and looking for the right time/price to pull the trigger. Found one that looks amazing in and out. This is off a private seller as he's asking for $72k. It's a 2lz with minor mods like exhaust and an interior haven't seen on a zo6 before. What do you guys think is a realistic price point. Also, has 7,000 miles. Also want to add that this cars on the east coast and I'm in Cali so would have to have the car paid and shipped by me.

Sweet car. The fact you have to ship it is not the sellers concern really. I paid 79K for a new 17 leftover that MSRP at about 93k. Realistically I'd guess he's hoping for 69k, offer 67 or so.

You could fly out and drive it back--just to get acquainted....

I would advise not to purchase any Corvette, especially a C7 Z06, prior to personal inspection and having it checked for a tune.

Nice look and what my 2019 will look like. I would want to see and drive the car before investing that much money

ESPECIALLY if you are bring the car into Cali.

Not sure what the exhaust change out would do for getting it through emissions, etc.

Otherwise, looks like an awesome car.

Nice car... it has the Stage 2 areos as well, and the two tone interior is cool. I have the exact same exhaust on my Z and it sounds great. Hopefully the seller will also throw in the OEM NPP exhaust.

Mileage is a tad high for a ‘17, but still reasonably priced. Shipping will probably cost around $1,500’ish. GL

Oh no doubt will I fly and check the car out before I officially buy. Already got a quote for shipping $900 for an open truck and $1200 for a closed shipping truck. The figure I was thinking was $67k. Haven't sent him that figure yet because I'm still selling my M2 but if he goes for it I'd fly out there and probably pull the trigger if everything checks out.
He also said it's never been tracked but I know how that goes.

You solicited an opinion from us. I look at the forum regularly so here goes. You sound like a young guy. I’m an old guy. NEVER buy a car like this. There are too many variables to list most of which work substantially against you in a deal like this. Some of the guys touch on issues of concern. There are simply too many cars out there to choose from. A new one can be had for a few thousand more. The exhaust upgrade isn’t worth a consideration. You asked. That’s my opinion.

And I welcome your thoughts so thank you. As far as my age goes it is pretty irrelevant and no I'm not a 20yr old or 30 for that matter. Agree there are a few zo6's that I'm considering all around the same ball park. If this car checks out by a dealer, mechanic, and by me well I'd say it's a good find under $70k.

Only buying new is silly. Plenty of us have bought used C7's and saved a lot more than new. Just do your duedilligence. Pull the service records, make sure there are no engine mods, tune, etc. Check with GM customer service to make sure the warranty is not flagged. Pull Carfax, etc.

It has a lot of options and looks tastefully done. I would think $69K or so seems fair. With the 19's out this one is two model years old now.

My sentiments exactly. I never buy a "new car" unless if I know it'll hold value like my M2 or plan on keeping it for a very long time. Otherwise yes you lose a ton of money on these Vette's unfortunately. Thanks for your advice.

Age is relevant to a degree. I look back on my life and the stupid things I’ve done and I believe I am smarter now.I acknowledge it is a relative consideration. My point is with all the vehicles available why go to all the trouble to vet this particular vehicle 2 to 3000 miles from where you live when there are plenty of options within striking distance on the left coast now or in the future. It would be one thing if it were next door but to fly across country to check it out etc seems too much to me. Heck it’s tough enough to decide on a new one that’s been sitting on a lot for a few mos.when it’s close by and you can spend as much time as you want.Just look at the old posts here;engines replaced on new vehicles without proper dealer transparency, body damage on the lot, not to mention all the other new car disaster stories that are reported here. Also 1200$ for a 3000 mile transport? Ask others here what they have paid and what kind of security you can expect for that “deal”.Im not trying rain on your parade but I think you can probably do better being patient esp with all the deals available.I can tell you the seller is probably praying someone is going to buy his car. It’s not easy to do a private sale deal these days.New vs used is always a relative decision.Buying used more often than not your buying someone else’s problem particularly when new currently is close to the numbers your quoting . I bought a new18 Z 2 mos ago so I know.Good luck!

There are plenty of deals near but since I'm dead stuck on having a torch red in a 7spd mt and a 2lz min my options begin to dwindle. I've found one or two but dealers are still trying to sell them close to sticker believe it or not. Bay area dealers aren't the greatest to deal with. I'm not one to rush so Knowing the zr1 is around the corner there should be an influx of 17/18 zo6's available. Thanks again for your input

That's really cheap for coast to coast. Using a broker? Beware, the lowest price isn't necessarily the best price when it comes to auto shipping.

I suggest you do a search on this forum prior to finalizing as there's lots of horror stories on shipping C7s. Also a lot of good info here in the many threads on the subject.

Thanks actually didn't think about looking around here for that. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for locally but it looks like all the zo6's I'm interested are in Texas, Florida and uoupp east coast
