Wish I was going any time! I keep dropping the hint that this would make a great present for Christmas or birthday, but alas I keep getting stupid t-shirts and mugs that say world best dad...
Went last week. Loved it. The first day, they show you what the car can do, and the 2nd day is on the track. There's an instructor leading 3-4 cars on the track, and he adjusts his speed according to how well the class members are keeping up. I did get it up to 120 on the front straight once, but that was the only chance I had to really floor it for more than a short time. The track is a little over 2 miles with 10 turns, so there aren't many places to get up over 90 or so. The instructors are great, and will work with you if you have any problems. Have fun!
Thanks. I’m really looking forward to it. Anything I should know before hand/ bring with me that you wish you’d have known before hand? I’m already gonna bring my SD card. Amy other surprises I should be aware of?
You are going to love it! I went in Sept. and my wife went in Dec. We had such a great time that we're going back for the the Level 1 (3 day class) in August.
I’m setup for March 19 and 20. Right now the weather is 50% chance of rain on the 20th.
What happens if the track is wet?
You still drive and get a great lesson in wet condition car handling. With Track/PTM wet, you'd be surprised how well the car does and how fast you can still go.

On the website they try to sell you the Piloti driving shoes. Those have a soft bottom for more pedal feel but aren't so good as everyday footwear.
Since I did the school and autocross and HPDE partly to learn how to handle a car in extreme conditions on the street, I use my normal shoes for those events because that's what I wear for everyday driving.
Your needs and desires may be different.
Neither I nor anyone in my class paid for the reduced deductible for car damage. We saw one car go off from another class, he may have had some minor damage under the car but nothing major.
EDIT:
They had a photographer there who appeared to be an outside contractor. His semi-grump attitude was a startling contrast to the great instructors. You get one free stick with the electronic class picture, everything else had to be purchased in (my opinion) overpriced bundles. My wife took a few pics and some videos from the observation tower, that was enough for us since this wasn't my first rodeo. If this will probably be your only track event, then spending a few bucks more for the photos could be a good choice.

Sperry Topsiders are a good substitute and more comfortable. Since they don't instruct on heel/toe anymore in the age of ARM M7s and A8s, dedicated driving shoes aren't really necessary anymore.
Thank you the heads up info. I may or may not choose to take advantage of the reduced rate at SHM, because of having bought a new C7, and get a partial credit on the course.
My favorite driving shoes for over 25 years have been my Rockport Wingtip dress shoes. I can drive cross-country all day comfortably without cruise control when wearing them.
The mentioned need for supplying an insurance/premium/deductible, is surprising to me. I'd of thought it completely furnished in the tuition charge. I guess not.
The opportunity to pay for a professional photographer for an up charge isn't surprising though. Sounds like an ala carte set of extraneous expense to navigate through after you arrive.
Thanks for all the tips. What’s the deal with the insurance deductible? Also, I’m getting in the day before and planning on meeting up with some friends in Vegas on Wednesday. What time do things get going on the first day? Want to plan to get there at a reasonable time the night before (staying at onsite resort).

Thx for your info. I didn’t know how they handle wet conditions. I’m excited about getting to track a GS.

IIRC, it's not actually an insurance, you are normally liable for the first xxx dollars of external damage (depends on what type of C7 you drive there) and you can pay a fee to reduce that amount.
The class starts early (0800?) and is a very active day, you'll want to get to Pahrump early enough to get a good rest the night before.
Also, you get a free night in the condo for the first day of school but need to pay for your night-before-school condo, if they have one available. Same thing if you want to stay there the night of the last day but they frequently don't have rooms available because of the incoming crowd for the next class.

All the details should be in the paperwork you received from them when you registered, and if you called, they should have gone over it as well.
You might want to call them back if you are concerned about the insurance, but there is another thread where the consensus was to NOT get it .

Hi!
as someone already mentioned, we run rain or shine!
it is actually very beneficial to run in the wet, as it really enhances the mistakes we make, so it forces us to be even smoother!

As for any "surprises", did your sales person review the waiver you will need to sign for any potential damages to the outside of the car you will be driving?

Actually, no. My wife set the entire thing up as a surprise Christmas present.
