Windshield Protection Film
Does anyone have any experience with having windshield protection film? Good recommendations or bad experiences? Have 2019 on order and want to also protect the windshield.

Sorry, can't help - question: how many miles a year do you plan on putting on your car? How long do you plan on keeping it?
I have used mine as daily drivers for the past 28 years, amassing more than 700,000 miles. About every 100K, unless the windshield is a true mess I replace the windshield - only costs about $300.

I put 125,000 miles on 2007 and 2011 C6's. Daily driver with lots of highway miles. Both were badly pitted. With heads up display replacements are $1000. If there is a good product out there, wanted to try it while the windshield is new.

I'd Make sure the HUD display will be clear and not effected by a "Film". Even Polorized glass can change images.
If I remember, you need OEM windshield because of the HUD when you replace.
Sounds like a great Idea, I put Weatherteck headlamp covers on mine the week I took it home. (Need to take off the Whole
fender to replace a broken head glass.
Let me know about the Heads Up Display. If I can get it for $ 150. installed, for film that protects, I'm in.

Above is the website of one of the leading products. Needs to be installed in warm weather. I had it installed in October in Wisconsin and it didn't adhere to the glass. Will get new film installed in late spring.

clearplex and hud
Has anyone put clearplex on their windshield that has HUD? I was wondering if the clearplex affects the HUD in any negative ways.

My installer of PPF told me they sell a new product that is kind of like what NASCAR uses, tear off's. It's $400 and you get 2 tear off's and each last about 6 months (depending on where you store the car, how much sun it gets, etc etc). Basically after the 6 months or it gets too destroyed, you just peel it off and have a second one there. It's not amazing vs UV so that's why it doesnt last too long, but if you keep it in garage most of it's life you can extend it.
Only problem is, windshield basically needs to be brand new. You can't just cover a windshield that's already jacked up.

My installer put a clear UV protection film on my car when it was new. I did ask about the HUD, and the installer said it would be fine. It sure is you cant tell that anything is on the inside of the windshield. I know you ask about the outside of the windshield. Myself I didn't even know there was a film for the inside. (damit my wife cleaned off the computer desk now I can not find my book that I keep everything that was done to my car from the build sheet to now otherwise I could look and see what film was put on the windshield)
