They don't let you take your camera/smartphone into the plant but there is a photographer with you the whole time who takes a gazillion pictures. They are to be mailed to me on a CD I believe so I will post when that arrives.

If a customer pays to "build" the engine who is responsible if the engine fails?

Who did you buy your ZO6 and build experience through?

Very nice write up.

For us out here on the west coast, the travel logistics are a bit more challenging.

It is option "PBC" when you place your order through any Corvette dealer.

Isnt there also an option that gives you a photo book of the build process for your car? I'd love to have that as well! I know that the assembly line is closed down to the public now so I wont be able to tour the factory but this could be the next best thing.

Having built my own 283/302s in my garage back in the day, it would be a blast to do it in a proper engine facility with things like lights, heat and all the correct parts at hand, and not having to rent specialized tools! And doing it in nine hours would be a treat! IIRC my personal best was measured in days, not hours
