Default MyLink System Update

So this might have been posted somewhere but I can not seem to find it. I just got my C7 yesterday and was wondering how the software in the myelin system gets it's updates? Do you have to bring it into chevy and is it free?

I see an option for system updates but it says to insert a USB for config download.

Are you looking for maps or just new operating system updates?

Maps you can buy from gmnavdisc.com. The operating system can only be updated by the dealer or someone with access to GMs subscription based programming service. There's really no reason to do it unless you're having a problem and there's a software update specifically to address it.

I was just looking for the software itself, I am wondering how new versions of android auto or car play are added if they are updated?

Also my nav icon only shows onstar nav, does that mean I do not really have nav?

If you're looking to this for GM's Navigation, you would do much better to use Google Maps/Nav through Android Auto, assuming you have a 2016 and up Vette.

Google maps and navigation are so far superior to the GM, it's laughable. I've tried both, and it's not even a question as to which is better.

Software updates only come from dealers or shops with programming subscriptions.

If you only have the OnStar nav icon, that means your car doesn't have built in standalone nav.

Yes I have been using Waze actually through android auto, I was just curious to if the car had it or not. Sounds like it doesn't, thanks everyone.
