I cant live without the front parking camera on my 18 z06 (that made me get the 2lz vs 1lz since I didn't really care for the better sound system or the ventilated and heated seats). Hats off to anyone who can park driving the car every day and not destroying their front end.

The only reason I ordered a new 2016 two years ago, rather than a used 2014 is because I couldn’t find a 2014 optioned the way I wanted it. I always prefer to let someone else eat the steepest part of the depreciation curve.
I’d have happily saved $20k or more in exchange for a plastic start button and a round steering wheel, if everything I wanted at the time was available at the right price in the used market.

Other than a comparative pricing on certain options, and given the fact that the '18s that I have seen have nearly as much orange peel as the '16s - if the '16s have the front cameras too, there's no real difference/s to my knowledge.

Well, shouldn’t you consider that the 18 A8 trans seems to have corrected the problems seen in the 16s? I’m assuming the OP may be interested in an A8 as automatics outsell manual transmissions in Corvettes by 3 to 1. The 18s (as well as 17s) have spats standard on the Zee and GS (needed mostly in wide bodies ). These helped a lot with the problem of sandblasting the exterior paint surfaces with road debris. The cameras in the 18s went to a higher resolution. The HUD is now user adjustable. They tweaked the driver display in the18s so they now can display wheel pressure on each of the 4 tires. They added the vibrant color Sebring Orange and also introduced the new ZR1 and collector edition Carbon65. I’m sure there has to be many other minor changes. There are always changes, many times they are subtle, going from year-to-year.

I only purchase 1 of each new generation. I refuse to pay 15k to 30k for a different color and a few new options.

I have a '15 and ordered it exactly the way I wanted it. I wish it would have come with the front cameras available in '16, but other that that it is and has been perfect. In hindsight, I wouldn't have done anything different, and would do it again.
BTW they stopped making my color choices, so the 'completely satisfied' opinion remains.

'15 - pos transmission
'16 - pos transmission
'17 - hit or miss
'18 - fixed
I have had 3 C7s and my '14 was the best one out of them. Excellent build quality with a bulletproof transmission that didn't make the car behave like a 2000 Italian exotic car.

I'm with you. I hang on until the next body style. And I like to mod the car but not lose my *** on permanent mods that lower the resale/trade in value. And it's fun to de-mod the car later and see how much you can raise for the next one. I look at it as paying for the sales tax.

My point, of course, was not to argue, but to highlight my argument, which you did beautifully. So subtle the differences. Of course, I'm also trying to justify my decision. I'll be honest, I struggle a bit on my Stingray v. Z06 decision (I went Stingray), so a 2.9L for the LT1 is in it's future. The rest, nope.

Would I REALLY want a car... any car that had been "setting" around the typical GM dealership for a couple years?!?

This isn't anything unusual in the car market nowadays. The C6Z was basically unchanged from 2006 through 2013. The C5 had very few changes. The C4s had several changes but the body style went double the years of the C5 and C6.
Increases in power mean recertification of the car. That can be costly for not much gained.
The changes for the C7 are the Z06 in 2015, front cameras in 2016, improved cooling for the 2017 M7 cars with the addition of a secondary radiator to help cool the engine and canted intercooler bricks to add extra cooling to intake charge for cylinders number 6 and 8. MRC calibrations were upgraded and then provided as a retrofit to previous years. Basically, the cars are the same from 15 though 19 with some features that can be added to the earlier cars such as the secondary radiator for the 15 and 16 M7s. The front camera isn't one of the things that can be added. PDR has changed over the years and some updates were provided to earlier versions but the latest one won't work in the early cars. ME car is probably 2 years away so we may see some special interest car with decals and paint that really isn't anything different. They did the 427 at the end of the C6 era which was nothing but a Vert with the LS7 engine and pretty much a show car Vs a serious performance car.
