Nobody doesn't know what a Corvette is and I'm pretty sure someone in the market for a new car isn't sitting there watching TV going " huh...I never thought about buying a Corvette".
I should add, Corvette did have TV ads. And got flamed by competitors and their agents. One of the latest were school child flying in a C6 during a Super Bowl halftime. Some teachers (or parents) complained to media and made a big deal out of it.
And the best

Reason: added contenct
Not sure I agree with you guys. I think the right ad in the market might nudge a few brain cells in the right direction. From what I see there are people out there that are not real sure where they want to spend their money.
They get free advertisement with every one of them on the road. They sell themselves and and most people have heard of them. If they need a nudge, no better way than to see one in it natural habitat. Plus, kind of controls the market and some (not much) resale. If not you end up with a Mustang or Camaro, 3 at every stop light. If you think about it, how much "Chevy" badging to you see on the vette. They don't even push their name or logo with it.
Porsche doesn't advertize the 911, Just the SUVs and Panamera-e
I've never seen a ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren ad
Mercedes doesn't run ads on the AMG GT, just ads for the ordinary sedans and SUVs and a few convertibles. Same for AUdi - Nothing on the R8 or even the sport models.
For that matter - The Ford Mustang GT 350 doesnt either.
These are cars that sell themselves (or not) on reputation. The people who buy these cars tend to think they are already better informed than the general public (whether they are or not)
