Default Arm Rest Cover

Have read about the issues some have with elbow indentations on their center armrest. Was wondering if anyone makes a black neoprene type stretch console armrest cover with the crossed flags emblem on it? So far all I have found are ones made of a cotton terry cloth type material. I'd like to put something more like a stretch neoprene one over my lid, perhaps with a small piece of foam under it. Right now I just keep a folded hand towel there to act like a pad.

Try the new revised for 2017 lid and see how that holds up for you. I just got it as my 4th warranty replacement so we'll see if it holds up any better!

I've seen nicer leather lids with the embroidered logos, but have no idea how they hold up.

On eBay I see suede, leather, and cotton covers.

Thanks, but so far I'm not having an issue with my lid. Just want to protect it and add a bit of accent to the interior. Want something easy to fit and washable, but not real fluffy. Think a wetsuit type neoprene material might work well with a small piece of foam under it for a bit of extra padding.

Bet if someone marketed such an item, especially with an assortment of colors, it would sell well. Hint Hint.

You got pointy elbows or what? How many miles do they last for you? I've only for 6000 miles so far but no wear that I can detect.

Depending what color you need, they're about $230 out of warranty:

38k miles on my car. Often times they start showing wear for me within the first few thousand miles. Not sure what the deal is, but none of my other current cars have issues nor have any of my previous ones!

That's weird - that means at 6000 miles I have about as much time on mine as you do on any of yours, and mine has literally zero wear, not even a depression where my elbow goes. I think I drive with my elbow on it... never thought about it but I'm sure I must!

It'd maybe be a good place to put those leather conditioners that claim to protect against wear to the test!

FWIW, the revised lid in my 18 has substantially firmer padding. The softer one in my '14 didn't look bad because I didn't generally rest my elbows there, but predict the new one will likely survive even pointy elbows.

I put a MF towel on the console to absorb oils or dirt from my arms. Doesn't work well on the door rest because it falls off all the time.

I had this issue on my 2015 and did not like it! Purchased a new on from GM with the stingray logo. We will see how it holds up. Now though I try to be more careful getting in and out of the car, I think me using it for stability by putting my elbow into the pad may of helped in the deterioration of the leather. So far zero signs of wear.

For anyone here considering an OEM console rest lid, you can get them for under $200 new if you call around. Or, shop the for sale forum here for a better deal on takeoff. I've sold two of my lids for $100 ea, like new take offs.

I have an APSIS nappa leather one, very nice!

I've had this one for almost a year and no issues whatsoever.
