In my opinion, the DSC suspension controller, MGW shifter, CAGS-eliminator, tinted windows, x-pel, NPP-controlled by Homelink, and Mamo ported throttle body is much closer to the ideal Stingray, but few would agree with that exact list, so Chevrolet would be dumb to build it that way, and add another $5k to the MSRP.

The goal for GM is to make it "good enough, and cheap enough" to be sold to the widest market, at the biggest margin. They aren't in the business of building the perfect car for every individual.

So we mod as we see fit.
In the case of Mighty Mouse solutions. His catch can and PCV bypass is a must do on your Z06. The gunk coming out your exhaust pipes. Is coming from your crankcase and is drawn through your blower and heads. Gunk right in your intercoolers.

MMS has wonderful FIX to the issue. Must do for a Z06! I would do this to any Z06 once you see how bad the gunk is.

In my mind that is a waste. Is ok to make the M7 fast but IMO The M7 is the wrong set up for the 1/4 mile. The A8 is much better goes faster much easier. Besides a lot of fast Corvette's are not hanging in the forum. You have no idea about any 3rd fastest M7 in the world claim that would be a big incorrect guess.

If it makes me happy and achieves a personal goal I have, then it is not a waste.

I am fully aware that there are others that are not on the forum. My claim as I mentioned is regarding being the third fastest “documented” in that category. I have found two others that are publicly documented to be faster..

Why mod at all falls in the same realm as why by a Corvette. Your average person doesn't understand why people buy 2 seater mega hp cars with very little cargo capacity that is low to the ground making everyday driving difficult. My answer to both questions is because it's bad *** and why be like everyone else.

Other than a few cosmetic adds (Lloyds mats or a splitter here or there), I generally keep my new Vettes pretty much stock. I only keep the new ones a few years at best, then on to the next one. I would rather sink my money into keeping my old Vettes in good repair. Let's face it, the old ones generally need something done to them on a regular basis.

Gota watchout with the word "old" cause there is "new old" and "old old".

Old old is the 1950's to 1999 IMO

Once you hit 2000-2002, dramatic changes occurred in production for many/most vehicles. The LS has its first truly high quality engine/computer from 2000+ with most of the bugs worked out with reliability aspect, from 2000+ you can expect some serious mileage and reasonable capacity depending on which foundation. Not so much leading up to that year/turning point

2001 is still "old" though. They give most Iron 2000 year model engines away (almost) in junkyards.

It's also money spent that can never be recovered.
Been down that road...dumped tens of thousands into a car and never got it back.
These days the most I'll do is minor cosmetic things, such as Lloyd's mats for example.
Modding isn't meant to make you money or even get your money back from what you spent on it. it's just to make you happy with it at that time, and there's nothing wrong with that.

My mods are 90% cosmetic. Make me smile, and keep me away from my wife Here's what I did/painted today. $ 12. paint light sand, 3 coat re install,
3 hours maybe at the most. I did break off a Carbon F. tab on my NEW Hood Vent , $ 480.......... should have been reinforced, but J Weld epoxy to the rescue all is well. Painting plastic, what the hell. I can't drive it when it's been 15-40 * every day for 4 months.
