Default Battery replacement question

When having the battery replaced in some of my previous vehicles (not Vettes) the installers inserted a small battery in the cigarette lighter before removal, supposedly to save all the settings in memory, software etc. When the time comes for my C7 to get a new battery is this something I need to care or worry about?

No, the only thing is that you will have to reindex the windows. All of the other settings are maintained.

Nah, it will hold your settings my friend.

Disclaimer: I have read some have lost their radio presets, but the major settings were fine.

Had my battery replaced as part of my Preventive Maintenance program a few months ago. All I had to do was to pay the dealer for the exchange.. 31,000 miles, 3.8 years..

I think my outside temperature display went blank, but did reset on its own after a few engine cycles.

Emissions status also goes to NOT READY for several parameters / sensors any time battery power is interrupted. The car needs to be driven for a while with numerous ignition cycles for the emissions status to show OK. This is only a concern if you live in an area that requires testing. I had this issue on my wife's Trailblazer after a dead battery. Took a week or two to show ready...
