How cold is it? How is your battery doing? These things definitely have an effect on the starting crank.

That's my bet. And, you'll want to get that battery before it gets so weak it causes the electronics to go crazy. And it will, trust me.

I'm curious, the way you wrote that, does it crank slow when you hold the button, then faster when you release it?

Or just slow the whole time?

If it's the latter, I would 2nd the weak battery suggestion.

Looking at your post count, it's possible that this is your first C7. In that case perhaps your question isn't about the speed of the cranking but rather that it takes a couple of cranks before it fires up? If my supposition is correct, be aware that that is perfectly normal behavior, aimed at building oil pressure before the engine fires up.

Just thought I'd check this before you start possibly chasing your tail with the battery...

However, if it is a 2014 with the original battery, probably time to get a new one anyway....luck runs thin after about 3 years..

Don’t buy a battery until you get yours tested. I’ve had Delco batteries last for many years. It’s the nature of direct injection engines to crank a few seconds. Add cold weather and add a few more seconds.

Batteries do last more then 3 years. I had a c5 go 9 years.

Just buy a new battery and have peace of mind. Batteries can last 6+ years, but not all of them do.

You can always check/clean the battery-cable connections, as well. I just had a friend with a loose cable at the battery and it was driving him nuts... but, he'd never checked, just eyeballed it. Another possibility. All the best!

As for the longevity of OEM batteries, it's ALL over the ballpark, even for the same car, same year. My C5 which I ordered new and used as a daily driver barely went two years; a friend's all the same but went at least five years and was still going strong when his wife took the car in their divorce.

The battery on my 2014 Z51 convertible lasted two years and was replaced free under the warranty. The 14's had the best and longest warranty of all the C7 model years.
