To break in the engine, you need another thousand miles, IMO.
Not exactly accurate. While 1,500 miles is cited in the OM, which I furnished above, the “engine” is essentially broken-in durning the performance build process at the factory. Any further seating of the piston rings, if any, have been systematized by 500 miles. It’s the other related components, i.e., the transmission/transaxle, differential gears, etc., that require the additional thousand miles.

The following break-in on my 18 GS is much harder than it was on the 14 Stingray. I guess its because I am use to the C7 and manual now, where I was learning the car then. 265 miles more to go. Cant even push it in the curves to have fun..

Not really sure. but may be trans temp. Have to find a day when I can get time to check into it.

I can imagine. Knowing the power is there and having to hold back.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I was not aware of the 500 mile oil change requirement on the dry sump oil system.

I am taking delivery of my Z51 Stingray at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green at the end of the month and have plans to "take the long way home" to NJ, so I'll probably put 2,000 miles on the car in the first week before I arrive home.

I'm guessing I need to find a local dealer to get the oil changed somewhere along the way, around the 500 mile mark?

Yes, first oil change on a dry sump car is 500 miles.

Yes, this applies to the GS and Z06 as well as the Stingray with Z51, as they all have the dry sump oil system.

I don't know about Jiffylube being able to do it versus a dealer. If you don't like your local dealer, maybe get some recommendations for reputable ones in your area, at least for this first oil change?

As mentioned, yes it includes the GS, and the the 500 mile oil change is 1 of 3 that are free. If you’re leasing, then why are you against the dealer performing the free oil change(s)? Details: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...rint-1359.html

the sellling dealer is 130 miles away- the non selling local dealer who priced the car 11k higher doesn't like me so much as i walked. I prefer to not waste time drop off uber and return is a pia- Going local much better, Again I dont care so much what the next owner has to deal with- no plastic slip covers for me - ok i did the splask h guards only cause i do like my cars clean- to a point
