To buy the thumb drive, you gave infotainment.com your VIN and that's the only nav system it can be used on..
Been thinking about doing this to my '15 Impala and on the letter I got about Nav updates it says the update is VIN specific.

Navigation update
Just completed the nav update on my 16 Z06 using the thumb drive I purchased from GM. Does anyone know if you can use the same thumb drive to update another C7? Thanks in advance.

On a cross country trip last year my friend's '13 C7 couldn't find Lambeau Field (pretty pathetic - it's been there for something like 60 years). He did a Nav update when we got home and it now knows Lambeau Field.
Generally, there's no reason to spend that much to update a map which may not change much in your area.

At least all the Nav Updates are equal opportunity ripoffs... I spent $170 to update my 2011 Mustang GT maps in 2015 to get updated maps of two major freeway changes done three years earlier.... NONE OF THEM were incorporated.
