Default Memory seat function issue

I have a 2014 that has been problem free up until now

I have the settings set to adjust seats to memory position upon ignition. Yesterday when I started the car the memory function did not work.

Pushing the "1" button on the door caused the steering wheel to move downward slightly, pressing again caused another slight downward movement until after about 6 presses of the button all the adjustments returned to where they had previously been set to go on starting car. After manually adjusting seat, steering wheel and mirrors I have again saved the position. I get a beep as if it had been saved, but after shutting down the engine the same thing happens on restart. I also tried using the "2" button to save settings, but same problem.

The exit memory function works fine as it always did...seat all the way back, steering wheel all the way up.

Has anyone else had this happen and if so what was the cause? Major issue, minor issue?

You can't have the seat ALL THE WAY back. Try again with it just a little bit forward.

It is press and hold, right?

Mine worked similar to what you describe occasionally. I reset the memory using this video and all has been fine ever since.

Yes, to use the 1 or 2 memory buttons you have to press an hold until the movement stops.

My 2017 settings move when the ignition is changed from OFF to ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY.

To save the settings press the SET button until one beep and then press the 1, 2, or EXIT buttons at the same time until two beeps.

You should get full automatic movement when in Park (auto) or with the parking brake set (M7). Otherwise, you need to hold the #1 or #2 button.

Funny enough, I'm having an issue with my memory seat as well, but slightly different. it's like the car isn't remembering my memory positions at all. It doesn't move to position 1, 2, or the exit position. It doesn't dpo anything at all when I hold the buttons either.

I set the positions by pressing set once, then holding 1/2/exit until I get the 2 beeps. If I'm reading the manual right, that's supposed to set them. Anyone have any ideas?

YES....Ours did the exact same thing today. Occasionally, it will do this, other times, it works just fine. No telling when it will work correctly or not. Sometimes it works fine for a month straight, then act up several times.

Can't seem to make sense of it.

Try holding the set and the 1/2/exit at the same time. There are some years where sequential works and others where concurrent works.

This bulletin explains all:

I'm having the same issue on my '18. 3 out of 4 times it works, and when it doesn't, it starts to move to the memory position, but doesn't finish. I have to press the button to make it finish.

Sometimes I will hit "set", hear the beep, and hit "1" but then it goes back to the prior setting instead of remembering the new settings.

There is a known issue where seat memory does not work when the seat is all the way back against the bulkhead.

Yes, I'm aware that it can't be all the way back on the stop when set, and my exit position is not even close. I've been very careful about that, but it still only works the way it's supposed to work 75% of the time.

Also make sure the 2nd fob isn't within sensing distance. Apparently, 2 fobs will confuse our cars.

Yep, since our key storage area is within reception range of the garage, our fobs stay in a metal container.

Thanks for the info/suggestions. I'll try resetting as per the video when I get home.

The exit position is the key. I originally set up memory seats years ago and I guess over time with the seat cycling back many times it "crept" back. Opened the door, put seat forward a smidge, got it, started it up and seats returned to prior saved position. Reset the exit position and problem solved!

I'm stumped on this for my car. the memory seat buttons do nothing but beep for me. If I change the seating position, and hold the button, it doesn't switch the seat back to the memorized spot. So I'm at a loss. It's so annoying

Yes, that is what I get..... about 75% of the time it works, then without reason, won't, but gives you the tiny movement of the steering wheel. I've had SOME luck with shutting off the car, opening the driver's door, shutting the door and restarting the car. Then about half the time, it will work as it should.

I too made sure when setting the exit seat setting, NOT to go all the way back. I'm well forward of that.

Equally frustrating is this is NOT the first Corvette that we've had this same exact issue with, however, I had many Buick LaCrosse's or Impala Company cars that all had memory seats and never had a problem. Nor have I had any issue with our daily driver vehicle, Honda Pilot.

Exactly, mine starts to move a little, then stops the 25% of times it doesn't work. I've reprogrammed it again and again, being careful each time with the back stop, but it's still the same approximate 75% of the time it works and 25% not.

My '14 worked every time.

Watch the Youtube video posted by Keppler...on a '14 it is the answer to the problem..

Based on posts from Foosh and others that have later models, there may be other issues...check for service bulletins....
