Video editing software that will load an h264 (HD) MP4 file should work. I use VideoRedo TV Suite v5 to edit videos and I just tried it on an MP4 created by the PDR. For a test I cut out the first and last 1/3 of the file for a test and wasn't surprised that it played fine, but was a bit surprised that it retained the GPS Tracking info on the top left. The appropriate .map.gpx file must be in the same folder as always. Since I clipped the first 1/3 the new video started on the correct position of the car on the map, and I wasn't sure how that would work. I didn't try more complex editing like adding music or text, so I can't say how that might play out, but it should work as it would with any MP4 file. What do you want to do with the video?
There are plenty within that link provided. The Cosworth Toolbox comes from GM and free. Heck, I use an app called Datakam Player for quick cuts and upload. It was free with my dual channel dashcam on my Subbie. For deep editing (fx, crop, inserts, etc...), I use Vegas Studio Platinum. The only editor I've had trouble with is the GoPro app. Looks like GoPro is looking for proprietary metadata before allowing editing.
My question: what would it take to replace the cameras for better resolution? Did they improve on the 18s/19s?
I grabbed a copy of the old Windows movie maker last year while it was still available from MS and it works fine as a simple editor for videos and is what I have used for quick edits of the PDR. It is supposedly still available from several sites but be careful that the offerings aren't click bait for a virus.
I just upgraded from my older Canon 1 series DSLR to a 1DX Mark 2 that also shoots HD and 4K video so I guess I should find something a little more sophisticated as a video editor
