This has probably come up but I couldn't find the thread.... I prefer to play my Cd's rather than mess with my phone for music. Whats the cleanest way to add a Cd player and utilize the cars speaker system in a C7?
I see it didn't take long for the condescending comments to appear. These forums used to be a place you could ask questions without fear of ridicule but sadly that is no longer the case. To the OP I wish I had a good answer for you (because I too would prefer to have a cd unit) but unfortunately I don't. You won't find much satisfaction here, only comments on how you are too old and need to move on to the new technology. Some people just have a need to feel superior even though we all know they must be overcompensating for something.
I have one for CW & two for Metallica/Pantera/Dios/etc. & of course Show Tunes!-NOT With 3 pugged in, simple to switch. More tunes than I could imagine. Finding a good source for good audio downloads is the catch.

There is no “clean way” to add a CD player in a C7. As others have said put your CD collection on a USB stick and leave the CDs at home. I’m 61, if I can do it you can too.
for all the high tech of a vette, a simple hd chip to make the unit a high definition radio would have been nice. even my aged ears can hear the difference between fm static and clear digital sound of HD radio stations. i've had the hd radio add-ons since 2007, but there is just so little real estate in a vette living room.

Would a portable CD player fit in the center armrest? You could then plug it into the power outlet in there and feed it into the auxiliary port in there as well. Not the most elegant solution, but probably the easiest.
Strongly suggest OB consider a USB as was already mentioned. At this point I have about 1500 songs on my 32 GB USB. While this only uses 13 GB I'm not sure if the media player in the car could handle all 32 GB utilized. I should add that I have a '15 with the 2LT trim level.
All of this music came from my CD's that I ripped using Windows Media Player. I rip to MP3 format at 320 kbps. If the original source is high quality the playback in our vehicles will sound very good in my opinion.
The media player is feature rich. All songs get ripped with metadata (at the song level) which includes song title, artist, album, and genre. Through an app such as Media Monkey you can also add album art after the songs have already been sync'ed to the USB from WMP.
When you are about to rip songs you can edit all the metadata to your wants so that you can group music that way you like. For example, I have ripped many Beatles albums. I created one genre called Beatles Studio Albums and another called Beatles Anthology. You can also create Playlists as another way to group songs together. I have another post in this forum that describes how to create a playlist, its not easy.
Another example, when I insert the CD, sometimes the song list from contains additional artists on select songs. Because I sometimes want to play back everything by an artist I edit the Contributing Artist field and reomve the extra contributors. Then in our car I see all the songs grouped together from the main artist even if some songs have secondary artists (that I edited out).
on a serious note, it will take some work but should be easy enough.. Connect the taotronics to your car bluetooth and connect the cable to the cd player and you have bluetooth CD music

I disagree. When somebody asks a question about, let's face it, an ancient technology seemingly clinging onto the "old ways" they will usually experience ridicule for not keeping up. Think about what would happen if say an Amish person came to the forum wondering how to hook up his horse to his new C7. You'd probably ridicule him too because the situation is ridiculous (and granted this example is contrived but is to illustrate my point).
Most people would who wanted to install a CD player into a C7 and was told to use a USB stick instead would be thankful for the idea and excited to know they he could have 100's of CD available at the push of a button rather than clinging to the old ways and digging up excuses for why a CD is superior...

And yet you had no problem going from cassette to CD.
it's a pretty sore subject on this forum, but the current Corvette infotainment system has(how shall I put it?) limitations, it's not inferior though--- and will apparently not accept a CD player add-on even though the dash was originally configured for one("storage"area behind center screen slide).

As some of us have discovered, there really isn't a "clean" or even a not so clean way of adding a good player.
It has been mentioned by others that originally there was supposed to be one behind the sliding screen.
If so, it most likely was canned because of the fear of engine heat.
Hopefully, the C8 ME will allow room for one.
BTW, don't listen to the non-audiophiles who can't resist making smart-*** remarks to a legitimate question from a fellow member.

Oh please.
I’m prolly older than you and the OP. I was just funnin’ a little bit or did you not see my little jester guy at the end? Anyway, it’s really not all that hard to transfer that CD music to a USB stick. It really is amazing to me that my entire 4,000+ song music collection sits on a USB stick smailer than my thumbnail and each song is easily accessible via the controls on the infotainment screen.
