Default Audio warnings?

Hi all,

Finally started driving the C7 this weekend.

As I was driving through a small village with a few stop signs, listening to music, there was a drop in volume.
Naturally I glanced at the radio thinking a call was coming in.
Nothing out of the ordinary on the screen.
Then came an audio message from the car but I just could not make it out.
I saw that "maybe" something had briefly displayed on the DIC but if there was it didn't stay long enough.

So, I'm wondering, what circumstances triggers audio messages?

Some clarifications: I was not using NAV (so no directions prompt)
I did not receive a text message or voicemail (and those notifications are turned off).

I was driving next to a park with a baseball field, no school zones. (some GPS will warn you of school zones)

It's a mystery!

If you have a m7, you were probably riding the clutch. Than generates an audible and visual message

Didn't know that, but I can certify that was not the case.

XM sends traffic alerts from time to time. They seem to be gone by the time one can look for them.

Yep, that's my bet too. I get them periodically for accidents and road construction warnings. They come as a surprise and I've never been quick enough to see anything display on the DIC either. Nothing shows in the HUD when I hear them.

I don't believe that OnStar is the one that sends traffic/weather alerts, I think that is the XM radio system!

My guess would be one of those random messages from Onstar.

My guess is that you have the speed alert turned on.

I didn't renew OnStar after the freebie 3 months so it must be XM sending the alerts.
