I have a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime as my primary commuter vehicle, but I also have a 156 mile round trip commute 3-days a week (almost 500 miles/week commuting) into the office. Even if I don't plug the thing in, I can still get 62 MPG on 87 octane on the commute.

That said, I took the Vette to work 5 days out of the last 10 days I've owned it. Best 1000 miles I've spent on the road in a while. =)

These things are built to run. I feel sorry for the garage queens.

Greg

[QUOTE=Jason Lu;1597062368]Currently I have only one car, 2018 Corvette GS. I love it and drive it everyday/
But let's face it, daily drive a Vette is fun and all, but it is inconvenient and costly.
I did a quick math, I drive 20 miles to commute (round trip) every weekday, that's 440 mile per month, make it 500 give or take.
Combine weekend trips, I would say I drive around 700 miles every month. [QUOTE]

There is no problem using a corvette everyday..
At 700mi/month - 8,400 miles per year, that isn't a ton of use.
The biggest issue with daily driving any rwd car with very limited ground clearance is bad weather - they just don't work well in snow.
You don't say where you live, but if snow is not an issue, daily driving a Corvette is very doable.
I don't have the luxury of not going to work when it snows, so I need to have a good foul weather suv - but when I retire to Florida next decade, I should be able to shed my suv and DD a Corvette.

Drive mine daily. Make going to and leaving work fun. I can’t imagine driving some econobox or beater. I thought about getting a Mustang as a DD, but I’d probably drive the Vette more.

Problem is, the GS gets the best gas mileage. LOL

Default Yes get 1

I have my 15 accord sport for my daily driver and for 2 income. If you have a vette for me you need a second vehicle its way easier to go in and out and just get in and drive. Get a second vehicle you'll see your corvette more cleaner , less miles and you'll appreciate it more.

I’d say no - unless you already have it, then maybe yes.

DD here as well. Put a little over 60 miles a day on my commute to work. I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. Course I don’t have any kids so that helps. Have my 17 Ducati Panigale 959 for a little extra fun. Just depends on what you want to do.

Jesus. A Prius. A ******* soul sucking mind numbing Prius. Damn. Clearly to each thier own. But man, a Prius? Life is too ******* short for that ****.

Watch old people slowly die. And then think about how to spend your time now.

I drove a rental Rav 4 for three days. I wanted to kill myself halfway through day 2.

Buy a Subaru Crosstrek. Thank me later.

My other car is the 2001 Buick Regal GS I bought new. I keep it for those times when I want to haul more than 1 extra passenger or when I go to the store for big shopping. It’s also my rainy-day driver when I choose to keep my Little Blue Vette at home.

While the Regal is 17 years old, I keep it looking and running like new. And I can honestly say that I drive a GS....but I never do.

I always drove a work truck or car to work and saved the wear and tear on the Corvette . Car feels more special when you save it.Then left it sit in the winter in the Midwest. Weather is pretty brutal there. Out here you can drive them year round winter in about 40 degree days. Less a few days.
I just reduced the fleet down to 5 and I'm single. Now I'm retired and I DD two Z06's. In and out of the garage.

There is nothing wrong with ECO mode. The v4 lifter thing was an isolated mechanical issue in non LT1 engines. The design has since been changed before it was introduced to the C7. V4 has been around in the 5.3L GM engines before the C7 was even out.

I second car usually will not save you money, it is more of a convenience for comfort and to keep your prized Vette as clean as possible, less wear and tear from commuting.

Just bite the bullet and keep your Vette as a daily driver. You'll have to spend the money any way for a second vehicle, so you might as well enjoy it!!

I found that the decision is easier the other way around... You already have a DD that is paid off and then you add the Corvette. Who wants to go through the pain of paying for another car when you already have the Vette? We all know you are going to drive the Vette any chance you get, so unless you absolutely need another car, (snow) I don't think you will ever justify the additional expenses..

My truck is actually pretty nice to drive as a daily. Plenty fast and no need to worry about any weather condition. I can also go off road if needed. Can't do that in the Z 😄

I spend 160 on fuel every month.
Tire cost is assuming life of 15k mile, A full set of 4 tires cost around 2000 + 10% tax = 2200. I spend 100 on tires every month.
Combine two, daily drive a Corvette cost me 260 per month.

If I get a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid for daily driver, 36 month lease is 300 per month, gas cost 70 (30 MPG, 3 / gl for regular gas, 700 mile)
Tire cost 28 (set of 4 tires: 800. life 20k mile => (700/20000) * 800)
Total cost 398. Assuming I drive very minimal on Corvette, this still cost 132 more per month.
But I do get a very practical SUV to haul things around, also get me where Corvette can't go (like ski resort and other places)
Should I do that? What do you guys think?
If you want to save money...sell the Vette. You're not saving money buying/leasing a second car. I would look into used vehicles. In the meantime, consider using Eco mode (15 MPG commuting seems low).

Jeep Grande Cherokee Summit is my DD but I have the itch to change up......thought about the Trailhawk 700hp Jeep but:

1. The Vette may be a let down to drive after the Jeep.
2. $100K for a Jeep......I can barely type that much less say it out loud!

I do like having a 2nd ride and yes there are just times the Vette isn't the ideal choice.
