I don't recall the correct gear oil, but do recall seeing it in the manual. Look it up and make sure that whatever you do use meets that spec Keep the receipt and you shouldn't have any reason to be concerned.
Really no good reason to use anything but GM fluid on street car. Some of the full synthetics have caused problems in earlier model Corvettes, especially in the transmissions.
The GM diff fluid also already has the special additives in it. Don't think GM ever actually says they approve other brands. It I up to the other manufacturers to prove they meet the GM spec.

What are the "specs". I know the correct weight is 75W90 but the ACDelco has "friction modifiers". Not sure if the aftermarket brands would have them. I just plan to top off with the OEM fluid if my rear diff level is low.
GM stuff don't last very long at all it breaks down really fast. I have put AMSOIL SYN in all of my holes to put oil into. I shot my warr a long time ago.
A number of guys in here has be having problems with the oil in the stick car in less than 10,k miles not shifting good & all. Plus have said when they drained it out was really dirt looking. Yes a few chged it out with the GM stuff again & said it fixed the shift & was much better.
I just like the AMSOIL stuff it will last much longer without give any sing of what the GM does plus after chging the AMSOIL back out at 25,k it looks almost as good as the new stuff that I put back into the car. Robert
I run Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 in mine. Any of the major brand synthetics with LS additive should be fine. Don’t over-think it, it’s just gear oil.
