Mag ride update frustration
Alright, this is kinda long, and a bit of a rant. I took my 17 GS to the local dealer this morning for the mag ride update. Dropped it off at 0730. By 3 oclock (almost 8 hours) the dealer calls:
Dealer: we have TAC on the phone and they need to know if you want track mode all the time or never?
Me: What? This shouldn't eliminate a mode.
Dealer: we also need to change the dampers?
me: That should not be necessary.
Dealer: TAC says change dampers
me: Do you have the dampers?
Dealer: probably not
me: I am coming to get my car, don't touch it.
Long story short, does anyone know of a Houston dealership that has actually done the software update on the Mag Ride?

I haven't done the update yet. Which dealership did you bring it to? I'll make sure I avoid them.

Yes, never take the car back to that dealership again. If they actually said what you wrote above, they were flat-out lying or over-the-top stupid.

I had mine done at MacHaik Chevrolet, Katy Freeway. $350 out the door, no issues at all, and later verified using the link in the other thread. Duy Nguyen was the service writer and seemed very knowledgeable about Vettes. I would go back to them in a heartbeat.
PS - the upgrade is awesome and worth every penny!

Is this true? I've read both was now several times. Is there some sort of way to check to see what version is on a particular VIN and if an upgrade is needed/possible?

Melting Slicks
The GS update was delayed until the 2nd qtr. 2018 and is now available as 84421869, which is also the version reportedly burned into new 2019 GSs. Mine and other "old" versions (2017 and early 2018 GSs) show 84136537. Don't know the threshold for the new version or even if later 2018s had it.

Finally went to Mack Hiak Chevy in Houston and had the upgrade done. Less than 1 hr. Drive home was noticeably smoother in both tour and sport. Quite pleased.
