Spectacular drive!
After an early morning hike at the park there (before the park actually opened it turned out). I took the drive down 287 from Wellsboro, PA, at the top of the GCoPA to Jersey Shore, PA (at the bottom of the GCoPA) a distance of 44 miles.
The road winds through the mountains in the area, with a lot of curves and elevation changes not obvious in the image. I didn't see another car for the entire route, until I hit SR 220 at the bottom and stopped for breakfast, where I got a lot of comments on the car and was told that amount of traffic on an early Saturday morning was not unusual.
Let's just say that due to the lack of traffic I was able to attack the drive and it took a lot less than 44 minutes. It was a huge amount of fun and definitely the most I've pushed the car since I got it back in November.
At the suggestion of a few locals I then took 44 SE through the mountains. A much shorter drive with more traffic, but plenty of marked passing areas. Also much fun. Overall, a great drive and a nice morning in the car.
I live about 200 miles from that area and drove up on Friday evening. Family had other plans for the weekend, but there is plenty of stuff for families to do in the area if it's a spouse or kid adventure.
