Default Sorry, yet another "help me choose" thread.

Hey everyone. I got the corvette bug when I bought a 2012 at the end of Jan. So much so I lost interest in my Slingshot. With that sold I can afford a new C7. I have 2 i'm interested and and i'd like pros/cons for both.

1st is a 2017 Z51 2LT Black rose. MSRP $72605 on sale for $62356. What attracts me to this car is the color, I absolutely LOVE this color! Reminds me of the ruby red on the 40th anniversary edition.

2nd is a 2017 Grand Sport 3LT MSRP $84490 on sale for $65971. Its paint job is similar to the 1996 grand sport, blue with the white strips and hash marks. Blue isn't exactly my favorite color but I really like the combo, I've always lusted over the 1996, such a beautiful car/color combo.

Thanks everyone!

It's not a difficult decision at all. You must buy the G/S its a no brainer.

Go drive all 5 flavors ( Base,Z51,GS,Z06,ZR1) and find the one that fits your wants/needs/style & $.

Just a word of caution....many folks here bought one and then regret later not buying something else and either sold or traded early...and lost money in the process.

Get what you want, even if you have to stretch a bit and don't be in a hurry. The lot's are full and they make plenty every day.

Sounds like the GS has the Z07 package and comp seats. That's a difficult combo to find and worth the added $. Plus it's a GS!

Alas, he's buying it for himself. That's why these kinds of threads are so strange. I can see asking for opinions on something like price. Many people here have their finger on the pulse of value and they will be able to say which is a "better deal." But color and model? OP just loves the color purple. Well? They aren't making any more of them! The GS is a whopping 3.5" wider than the Stingray. Nobody but a Corvette nerd can tell the difference. Buy what you want. Buy what talks to you. Buy what gets your pulse racing just a bit more than the other one. It's strictly a matter of personal preference. Buy what YOU want, not what I want or the other guy wants.

Default The greatest difficulty is valuing taste

Once you get past the options, years, mileage, etc., that which can be easily financially quantified you are left with trying to assign a dollar figure to taste; how much is it worth (in real dollars) to get the color you want and, of course only one person can answer that....ME! HAHAHA, every car will be some version of Ferrari Red from now on....BWAHAHAHA

FWIW, blue is not my favorite color and I'm not a fan of strips --BUT!

When I saw the color chip for the Black Rose thought the same as you at first. Reminds me of my '93 40th Anniversary Vette! Then I recalled the problem with it that was not as bad as my first new car with dark purple paint, but similar! It was a new Corvair with every HD option like quick steering, HD suspension, metallic brakes, etc. Loved the car with the many mods I added like 14 inch wheels/tires when Plus One was not a word nor was "low profile," although those Continental 714 were!

Recall my Uncle (who was manager of a large Chevy dealership at the time) tried to talk me out of the color! Said it doesn't look as good as the color chip! Color is a bit "muddy." Remember the first time I washed and waxed (yep wax was the preferred finish in "the day,") I pulled in for gas and a fellow looking at the car said, "Bet that looks great when you wax it! That in a word was the problem- always looked a bit dull!

Had it painted "hugger orange," a color of the day. It was bright, which is what I wanted but that paint did not match the chip either! I called it school crossing guard orange. It glowed like a safety vest!

Parked outside at the time an tree sap made a mess of the paint so had it repainted silver! Should have done that in the first place! Looked great in sliver!

I'd vote for the Grand Sport! Great price for a great car!

Either would be good choice, however I'd go for the GS as a better deal and I like the traditional Grandsport color scheme.
Resale will be better down the road as well.

Chriswell Chevrolet has a new 17 GS Black Rose vert Listed for 71,700 MSRP of 89K. Higher than the other numbers but maybe they would move their number?

LOL well after all of this I went in a total different direction. I went and looked at a base 3LT and drove it. The MSRP was 69K and I got it for 55.5K It was the 1st time I drove a C7 and I absolutely loved it! Then I started thinking, well, I really dont need the Z51 which meant I really didn't need the GS and was it worth 10K for a car that is stunning to look at for capabilities i'll never use. This is just a weekend toy. As much as I would have liked that GS i'd rather not pushed my payments up higher for a "toy".

I appreciate everyones spending the time to give their opinions, it really was appreciated. I'll post what I got in a new thread.
