Le Mans is one race. Kanaan's regular ride is a Chevy powered Indy car.
Phil
Correct, for the 24 hour races (Daytona and Le Mans) each team needs to add a 3rd driver, and Kanaan was added to one of the 4 Ford GT teams for that race only. He's just a short-term contractor.
Regardless, it's their career, and pro-drivers are probably among the most brand-agnostic folks out there. They simply follow the money.
...and what Jimmy Johnson and HMS have NOT been able to do by running Chevrolets.
The recent downfall of HMS has been quite surprising, really, even with their youth movement. Heck, Larson and Ganassi are generally outrunning them from the Chevy camp. It seems like maybe SHR was bringing more to the table in the original partnership with HMS than HMS might have thought.
I'm a longtime fan of Smoke, and therefore SHR, now Harvick primarily. Their move to Ford, which was grating to a Chevy fan, has turned out better than I was afraid it would. I thought they were just making a lateral move from being second-fiddle to HMS to being second-fiddle to Penske, but this far, they seem to have become the flagship performers in that camp, even beyond the Penske trio.
I like the new mustangs and they are getting some decent power out of the third gen coyote motor. No way I'd give my vette up for one, I just think they are doing some good things over there.
