I would think so, especially if they are soft bags. I went on a trip where I put a golf bag (carry type) and a small pail of cleaning supplies plus 2 soft carry bags in my 2017 trunk.

Yes...more so if you fold down the soft top compartment “divider panel”. Ideally, stick with soft not hard luggage that has a little give when packing in the trunk area. I took a road trip from Chicago to Maine in 2016 with my daughter and we packed a lot back in there, including cool and warm weather gear. What you can see in this photo is only about 2/3rds of what we packed in there.

What do you mean, "standard"? People try to cram some very big bags into "carry-on" these days. My "standard" bags barely fit, with no room for anything else, so I went to a soft duffel where two of these fit just fine with some room left over. Yes, there is room if you lower the barrier, thus preventing the top from going down, but it's not a lot.

Default top shelf

We have two bags for overhead bins. They fit perfectly end to end in our trunk. No room for the kitchen sink though.

Thanks, I'm renting a 2017 Conv. in July. I'm used to a 67 coupe with plenty of room.

Oh your one of those guys?

To the OP’s point, it’s not a vague term. Technically each airline offers dimensions on their site and at the gate, which I think the OP is referring too.

“United Carry-on bag
The maximum dimensions for a carry-on bag are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches (22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm), including handles and wheels.”

What "guys"? I don't understand your point. Further, not everyone flies United. Before I bought my vert I took my two "carry on" bags to a dealer who had one in stock and measured whether my bags would fit by actually, you know, putting the actual bags in a real trunk. It's one thing to measure the trunk, then measure the bags, and compute the size and quite another to try a real-world example. When I did that the two bags fit, but barely, with no room left over. I had to literally cram them in. It was NOT an easy fit. Mine are 21"x10"x15" but squishable enough to meet United's limit. Alaska Airlines just changed their bag dimensions to United's.

Not all airlines have the same limits. Southwest, for example, has limit of 10x16x24. If you have bags that are that size, two of them will NOT fit in a vert. Those 4 extra inches are crucial. British Airways is 22x18x10. Good luck getting two of those in

As a result of my experience I switched to the soft duffels which give you some more flexibility and allow easier access to the smaller space beneath the top barrier, or on top of it if you choose to keep the barrier down. This does give you a bit more room, but not much, but if you do that, the trade-off is that you can't put the top down. Presumably you bought the vert for a reason. Although the duffels are smaller than a rigid carry-on, you can get just as much or more stuff in them because the frame of a rigid bag takes up quite a few cubic inches overall. You also need not make room for wheels or handles.

My suggestion is to take YOUR bags to a real C7 vert and see if they will really fit. If you remain theoretical about it you may be disappointed.

With the partition up you still can fit two standard airline carry-on bags. However, soft bags are the way to go.

Another "YES". With space to spare, with top down, even more space with top up divider down.

Anyone ever consider putting a luggage rack on your C7 Vert?
I certainly hope not.
Though they were fairly popular on the C3s.

I have one for my C5 vert. It's very retro and also very handy.

Are you asking because you are headed to the airport or on a road trip?

If you are headed to the airport, then yes, with the top down and the partition up, you can get two roller bags in the trunk. Not much else, though. If you put the partition down (top up is assumed), then you can pack as much as you need for any airline trip.

If you are packing for a road trip, then ditch any framed luggage and use only duffle/soft bags. You will greatly increase your ability to pack a ton into the trunk.

After numerous trips, I think I've become a Tetris master.

Have one for my C7 Vert custom built by a forum vender. Works great. Comes off in two minutes and you can lower the top with it attached.
By the way, I can fit two FULL
size roller bags in the trunk with the top up.

The bags are not full but I will include the measurements of the items at their "full" values.

Black suitcases: 22 1/2" long, 12" wide, 13" thick (Height As Seen)

PC bag between suitcases: 18" long, 13" wide, 5" thick (H.A.S.)

Red Bag on top of PC bag: 9" long, 9" wide, 5" thick (H.A.S.)

Brown bag at right: 22 1/2 inches long, 15" wide, 12" thick (H.A.S.)

Big Red Bag: 20" long (L-R),8" Wide, 11" thick (H.A.S)

Camera case: 12" (L-R), 8" wide, 8 1/2" thick (H.A.S.)

As you can see, it all fits just fine with a couple of spots for small junk. All of this and I STILL have room for the fire extinguisher sitting on the rear center floor of the trunk!

The final picture is all of the items sitting on the floor in a plan similar to the one in the car.

^ The Above pretty much confirms that "the myth" that C7 verts don't have much luggage capacity is total BS.

Removal, that's handy!
