Got the letter

I went to the web site list on the bottom of the letter www.gmrecallcentre.ca and no recall shows up for my 2015 Z51
It's a warranty extension for a particular sub-assembly that may fail in the future. Two completely different things.
Go to My.Chevrolet.com and check WARRANTY STATUS to see your warranty extension program listings. (I assume that website works for Canadian owners, but am not 100% sure)

No letter yet, but I've got the warranty extension under 17469.

16 Vettes and counting…..
My '17 GS was built on Dec 21, 2016. Checked on the GM website and my car does not have the extended warranty for this issue and I have not received a letter. It would be interesting to see the build dates of other cars to see if there is a cut off date for the issue.

The potential fuel tank leak is not a recall (at this time). It is a Special Coverage Extended Warranty program.

Finally had a chance to check mine, and yep, I'm on it. Mine is an early build, #307, so thought maybe it was early enough in the process that it wasn't an issue but I guess not. Expires 10/24/23.

Interesting thread to say the least. I have to say I am glad that GM has stepped up and is standing behind the problem with a warranty. If you want to see another mfg. that has had the problem go to the Mercedes forum and search "E class fuel tank leak" and see what you find. Short version is virtually every car produced between '05 and '09 had a leak at the top of the tank at two locations for the fuel pump and gauge sender. They just turned their back on any car out of original warranty. Owners tried to have the Feds force a recall and that got nowhere even though there were cases of fires. The problem was the seals went to mush because of the alcohol in our fuel. I bought a nice '07 for my wife that fortunately had a MB dealer warranty and I got it repaired on their dime. Interesting thing about the problem was it only happened when you filled the tank completely. When we picked the car up they had the tank filled to about 95% which I remember thinking was odd so it didn't surface until I had to fill the tank several days later and I was really knocked over with fumes when I went into the garage the next day. When I called the service dept. to schedule repair they played dumb about knowing what the problem was but they did the repair and it was good until we got rid of the car. There were two other major defects in this model, an electronic shift module located within the trans (a $2,000 repair that I can verify first hand) and a cam position sensor that is a $50 part that requires $5,000 in labor to replace (reason I traded the car before I got to experience that matter). Moral of this story is most mfg. have problems and we shouldn't be so hard on the Vette for this issue if the General is going to take care of it for a reasonable future time.

Does this show up on the warranty section of my chevrolet.com? I am in the midst of making a deal and was unaware of this issue. I added the vin to my account and it says warranty information is not available at this time. It's a '15 so the original B2B has expired but the owner says he has a 7 year extended warranty which does not show up either. I would like to know before I pull the trigger. Maybe I'm overreacting but as much as I like the C7 this may cause me to reconsider the purchase.
EDIT: I just checked again and this time it shows the special warranty coverage 17469. Crap!

EDIT: They must be updating a lot of records since I just checked and my C7 is included in the 17469 but my extended warranty is still not listed. Not sure what is needed to get it listed and it also doesn't have a service history even though I now the prior owner used a GM dealer for service. I think the website states that not all dealerships participate in the service history program.

I've been thinking about this fuel tank issue and it is aggravating that GM has used defective parts for years. The only thing that would force a recall is a series of fires with or without injuries. Now that I know I have the potential problem, it makes me want to explore other brands as a replacement when its time to buy new again.
