Stamped numbers for: engine, chassis & VIN
The LTO (Local Transportation Office, equivalent to DMV) requires the stamped numbers for the engine, chassis and VIN stenciled (4 copies done with carbon paper and taped to prevent erasure)
Anybody know the locations of these stamped numbers?
Thanks in advance

I have no idea. Im curious to know if this would be required for a salvage rebuilt ( florida ).

That's ridiculous. Some of those numbers may not be accessible without significant disassembly. Also, a lot of those labels are printed or etched now. You physically can't take a rubbing of them.
The service manual I have doesn't show the locations for that stuff. Google wasn't much help either. This is for an LS engine. I've got no idea if the LT engine is the same.

Damn. You're right. That is a part number and not a serial number.

The engine's "VIN" number can be found stamped on the engine, left rear of the block by the flywheel.
Transmission would only have a broadcast code label with the following:
There should be one etched somewhere on the vehicle frame or suspension member, but that exact location is escaping me right now. I know my Colorado has one right on the frame rail.
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is located on the left side rear of the engine block (1) and is typically an 11 digit number stamped or laser-etched onto the engine at the vehicle assembly plant.
- The first digit identifies the division.
- The second digit identifies the model year.
- The third digit identifies the assembly plant.
- The fourth through eleventh digits are the last 8 digits of the VIN.
- Broadcast Code
- 2D Machine Readable Matrix
- Transmission Assembly Number
- Vehicle Partitioning and Product Structure Code (VPPS)
- GM Traceability Code
- Manufacturing or Assembly Site Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS)
- GM Part Number

Engine Identification
The service manual also states that an Engine Traceability Label is attached to the rear side of the left cylinder head. I've not examined one closely enough to see if it contains a VIN derivative.

Not true, I took delivery of my 2015 Z51 at the NCM using the R8C program. I also purchased the Photo Album offered by the NCM. It is a program where a professional photographer follows the car during assembly to capture the major steps of its build process. I was thrilled to receive my album and find a beautiful photo of my engine (before being mounted in lower drivetrain/suspension assembly) showing the partial VIN etched on the rear of the engine, along with a close up of that etching. I did not receive the digital files of those photos, but will take a photo of those two photos in the album and post them here for reference.

I believe they are pretty much legally required to help identify stolen parts and to identify the source of parts thrown all over the place if the vehicle is used in a bombing.

I have not personally looked to see if you can get to this part of the engine and if so, how. The VIN etching appears to be on the drivers' side of the block, just below the rear of the head. It may require having the car on a lift to be able to reach that place. Get an inspection mirror and a good LED flashlight and search around from up top first.

Engine number
Please take another snapshot of the number, but please zoom out so that the other components/parts will show relative to the position of the engine number.
thank you so much and best regards,

I'd love to, but I can't. The photos I posted were taken with my cell phone and they are pictures of a couple pages in the photo album I bought from the National Corvette Museum. They are photos of my car being built and the angle and zoom factor were set on the original camera that took the photos.
