I have what may seem to be a silly question. Is there any way to tell if a car has had a ceramic coating applied to it. I bought my 15 Z51 used and before I do any polishing etc to the finish I want to be sure. I have to say the finish is very smooth and things like bird droppings or other things don't leave any marks on the finish. It shines great. Thanks for your input
I would apply water to it and see if it beads up or sheets off. If it does you know it is either a brand new detail with a lot of wax or ceramic. Then apply wax remover to a section and reapply the water. If no more beading it was wax. If it still beads it is ceramic coated. This is precisely why I would never buy a used Vette from a dealer. You lose all knowledge of what was done to the car before you bought it.

Well sometimes you buy from a dealer . It was difficult to find a used one in the color I wanted . Even my local Chevy dealer couldnt find one. Each type of purchase has its own advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for your insight

Agreed. I'm in the same boat with my '15 3LT that I purchased from a GREAT Dealer, due to color/option desires (like exposed carbon fiber roof), having wondered and now believe that mine was/is ceramic treated.
Don't quite understand the other poster's comment, since if both of ours were ceramic coated, that's simply a "cherry on top" bonus that we didn't pay for, since no dealer is going to know/check or factor that into their pricing (unless they applied it in the first place). ---
This is actually quite simple. Buy this product Feynlab Wash. Wash your car with this soap. When you rinse it, you should see the water bead up and just run off. If it does, you have ceramic, if it doesn't... Thanks for playing.
It is excellent wash soap regardless of ceramic or not.
