Afternoon CF! For those who have hardwired front dashcam to fuse box in rear, how many feet of cable have you used?
The hardwire kit for my cam has 12 ft, but I’m guessing with twists & turns, it might not be long enough. My idea was to buy a male to female micro-USB, run that from camera, then connect the male micro-USB from that point, back to fuse box. Anyone see any issues with that (electrical engineers included)?
And for those wondering “why don’t you just go see, dummy?!” It’s because my baby has yet to be delivered to Mike Furman. I’m buying accessories like a mad man for when she finally arrives. Uniden R3 with mirrortap just arrived. PPF, ceramic coat, and window tint will be first stop after pickup from Mike.
fun times...

I bought mine from blackboxmycar and he added 10 feet on to the power cord for nothing, just have to call him and ask to have it extended or call before...
I used the mod on here for hard wiring a radar detector to the rearview mirror. Nice and quick and I was on my way. about 1ft of wire is all that was needed.
there is a reason to go all the way to the fusebox on some cameras.. Mine has 2 power wires, one is driving mode and one is parked.. both will record video but the parked setting is motion detected and only records when it senses motion in the front or back camera.. it senses when the car is started and goes into driving mode (it uses a fuse that's only on when started)
it depends on what type camera you get, if you have both front and rear you have to run the wire to the rear anyways, the power goes right along with it most of the way...
