Default Sensitive inside hatch release

I frequently touch the inside hatch release with my left or right knee when when getting into my C7 coup. I don’t realize it til I get the warning alert so then it’s cuss, pull over, stop, get out, close the hatch, get back in, cuss again and start again. Aside from the obvious solution of not touching the release when entering, have any forum members found a way to desensitize the release?

Enable easy entry, exit, if your model has it. It helps a lot, as it gets you knee farther away from the button.

He also could be tall. I have that problem sometimes. Whoever decided to place that hatch release right where the knee goes must not have been paying attention in their rocket science class.

Not a common problem, but does happen. Move your seat back.

I am tall and I had to adjust my "getting out" behavior to avoid this when I first bought my Z06. I haven't accidentally popped the hatch open since the first couple of months of ownership back in 2016.

I recall early on that some forum member made a little plate to go around the hatch button so that the button was recessed below the plate and that stopped the problem for him. GM recalled my 2014 ATS to do a similar modification to the sunroof switches because they weren't recessed sufficiently according to some federal safety standard.

I now feel so much safer when driving my ATS knowing that I won't inadvertently open the sunroof and go flying out while driving down the interstate.

In 3 C7s, I have lost count of how many times I have bumped that **** with my knee getting into the car.

You'd think the C7 R&D folks would have bitched about the location of this switch.

Since it is apparently recurring I suggest you find and practice a method of getting in that doesn't do it over and over until second nature. Then attend to it for a while as you use that method to be sure you always do so.

This same routine is used in all sorts of behavior mod practices from sports to management.

What kind of inseam measurements are we talking here?

I have a 34" inseam and have never ever come close to hitting the button.

Are you all basketball players?
