I have a 2017 Z51 convertible that I have had for 11 months (3,500 miles) and noticed that a tear is starting to develop on the passenger side just above the window. Has anybody else had an issue with their top and if they did, was the dealer able to repair satisfactorily? These tops fit so well and so precisely that I'm afraid it will never be the same after the dealer gets their hands on it.

Reason: fix typos
Good point. Is there a way I can move this or should I just start the thread over again in the convertible sub-section?
Leave this thread here and start a new one in the Convertible Sub Section. That way you'll get the most responses.
I don't know if a top tear would be covered under warranty. I had a Honda S2000 with a top tear that was caused by a design flaw. It was covered under warranty.

Thank you. My top doesn't really have a tear, it's more like the material has pulled away from the stitching, which I would assume is a manufacturing defect covered under warranty. In any case, I made an appointment with the dealer to take a look at it.
I would guess warranty item, too. Doesn't look like a tear--my 2015 has 13,000 miles and sits outside 365 days and the top looks perfect (just survived a major hail storm that left my daily driver Nissan Rogue, with a busted right front headlight and major hail damage; not so much as a paint chip on the Stingray, however). I doubt you'll have an issue at the dealer but don't sit on. Take it in as soon as you can.

as well. That is a warranty repair. Can't see how that would be denied.
If the dealer does a poor job have them fix it again. I would hope they would replace the whole top. Not just do a restitch on the defective area.
I went to the top of C7 Gen, the first page for the stickeys. Had no idea it was up there. Thanks to both of you---did not know this sub-forum existed at all. Appreciate the help!
Thanks for all the feedback, really appreciate it. I have an appointment with the service manager where I bought it on Tuesday. I’ll let you know what they say. I really can’t see how they can deny a warranty claim, it is clearly some poor material/stitching. I just hope it comes back as good as new, I really love this car and it’s the first new car I’ve ever owned.
Quick update regarding the convertible issue I had mentioned last week: I took the car in today and had my appointment with the service manager who indicated without hesitation that the top would be replaced under warranty. He took a few pictures and emailed them off to GM who will send out a technician that specializes in convertible replacement. The service manager was prompt and professional. We spent more time shooting the breeze about Corvettes than we did discussing the issue.
