At a good hotel, that means that your car is less likely to be messed with whilst parked, and usually at both a hotel and restaurant, in my experience, they will usually leave it up when asked. They like to have some nice cars visible, it draws in others.
I like and prefer to valet park when possible.

At the Omni in Charlottesville, VA.
I stayed there a few years ago for work That's the one with the skating rink across the walking mall, right?
Valet- no. Not my Corvette, my Civic, or even my track rat RSX (which has cone marks all over it.) For pretty much all of the reasons above especially the lack of control over where my car is. Something not mentioned though- I hate tipping. Don't confuse this with me being a stingy tipper, I'm not. I just don't like the concept of arbitrarily paying someone in hopes that someone does their job well...... and one of my jobs in college was pizza guy so I know what it's like to work for mostly tips....and I didn't like that either. A nice tip felt like charity rather than pay for my performance.
Never Valet ANY of my cars. My neighbor was a valet at a high end restaurant/hotel. If you think you are safe just because it is high end you are smoking the high end stuff! Obviously they are not all this way but expensive DOES NOT mean responsible.
did valet twice, neither in the corvette. it was my modded 03 wrx, valet couldnt drive clutch very well and they tried to drift when pulling the car out. Both times i complained, no one cared.
I went to a shop to get an alignment on my corvette and when the guy finished he redlined it out of the parking lot down the street. He said "i had to make sure it drove straight..."
If i had a valet mode to set an rpm limit, it would not bother me as much.
No, as I like the freedom of not being dependent upon someone else bringing my car when I need it, I don't like being dictated to by an establishment I'm giving my business to and don't like trusting my car to some kid I don't know.
