i saw a ZO6 with the inner plastic mud gaurd. It was flared ( not the spat ). Im looking to find out the part number. I went to the Chevy dealer today and saw a ZO6 with the regular no flared. I didnt even bother going in to ask thinking i will just be stuck with the basic one.
A lot of us here made a "homemade" extended front splash guard. You can search several different threads on this forum which will give you specifics. We used off the shelf generic splash guards you can buy at any auto store and modified them to cut them to shape, and attach to the existing front GM black plastic pieces using 5 small screws.
On our Grand Sport, the tires stick out 2.25" wider than the body, so I made mine 2.25" cut and tapered them to fit and they stick down about an inch and a half lower than the stock pieces.
Works great. NO debris down the side of the car, NO sand blasting. I also use full length side skirts.
It all comes down to what the individual C7 owner prefers.
I prefer the GM/OEM as they really blend into the overall good looks of the car and I haven't received any damage. They use the existing OEM hardware and front and back can be installed in about 20 mins or less.
To me, the home-made looks 'just that', home made.

Super easy to install. All four took me maybe 45 minutes and I'm slow. They look great too, I think. YMMV.
ACS front splash guards are better than the GM product. They are about a 1/2 inch wider and deeper. Look fine with the front spats. I put them on my Grand Sport.
ACS just sells the GM rear splash guards, which are good enough.

That's what I put on my C6 when I had it and the first thing I got for my C7. Exact match for the side skirts I installed as well.
