Overheating Solved - Uggh
I've seen several posts about guys with 2014's seeing their Temps go up to 260, see the engine overheating message on the DIC and then return to 220'ish.
Well, I took my 14 Z51 over to my local Chevy Dealership. They put the car up on a lift, and I didn't even get a chance to get some coffee and they told me to come take a look. Supposedly the previous owner must have hit a curb, and bent the skid bar. Well, for anyone who doesn't know, the radiator is bolted to the top of the skid bars (one bolt on the driver side and one on the passenger side). So as a result of bending the skid bar, it torn out the radiator bolt on the driver side, bending the bottom of the radiator just enough to create a hairline crack. This caused a very slow, unnoticeable leak of coolant - which caused my coolant to get low... This would explain the sporadic temperature rising and dropping, because I wasn't too low, I was just low.
So for those guys having this issue, you may want to just peek under your nose and see if you see what I saw. The first picture is of the bent skid bar - I circled in RED where the bolt for the radiator is missing (torn out). The second picture is of all the repairs completed.
Hope this helps someone with this problem.

Just another example of why it is sooooooo friggin' important to go over a used car... any used car top to bottom, and then some! Sports/performance cars doubly so, at least.
