Default Fuel gauge issue

I took my 2016 Vette out. It has 2400 miles. I started with 1/4 of a tank. The longer I drove it, the more gas the fuel gauge said the car had. The next day, I didn't add gas to the car, and it was reading at 3/4 of a tank.

I called Chevy, and they want to drop the tank. Has this happened to anyone? I hope this is an isolated issue. I own another Vette with under 100k miles, and the amount of money I have poured into that car has been outrageous. I hope this cycle isn't repeating with the 2016.

I'd try the fuel additive first to see if that clears up the problem.
You can also disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to see if it resets the gauge.
I would also consider putting in a new battery as the one you have may be on it's way out.
Just a few suggestions.

From the 2017 manual.

Fuel Additives
To keep fuel systems clean, TOP
TIER Detergent Gasoline is
recommended. See Fuel 0 213.
If TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is
not available, one bottle of GM Fuel
System Treatment Cleaner added to
the fuel tank at every engine oil
change, can help. GM Fuel System
Treatment Cleaner is the only
gasoline additive recommended by
General Motors. It is available at
your dealer.

I dont have a problem with the C7 when I had my 96 had problems with fuel gauge pretty much stayed on full. I used Techron and after a few uses the gauge started functioning properly.

Thanks.

I was reading about that on the other thread. I also read that the repair is 2k+. The car is still under warranty.

Is there any danger to the car if Chevy does drop the tank and does this major of a job?

I cant speak on the job on a C7 but my C6 had to have the tanks dropped for the fuel leak under warranty, Service writer said was about $1700 job. wasnt any problem and the car did drive or ride any differently after the repair. I put 17k miles on it after the fix. shouldnt be any big deal

So if you just keep driving it, you will never have to re-fuel...
You must have gotten one of GM's super secret solar powered Stingrays with the fuel gauge is just for show..

Try the Techron, and also use Chevron or a brand that already has Techron mixed in.

They are going to charge me for this even though the car is under warranty?

You should not be charged if the car is under the Factory warranty.

Some people have had very good luck with maintenance costs on Corvettes, but I'm not one of them.
We bought the GM extended warranty on our 2001, 2006, and 2009. We put on a lot of miles and "made money" on all three warranties. I will not own a Corvette that's not under warranty, if a decent extended warranty is available.

The only car I have ever bought extended warranty for is my 2004 Z06 because it was so cheap. Only $1000 for another 4 years which I got back just replacing both window regulators which C5's are noted for failing.
My 2014 is now over 5 years old and I have not had any mechanical problems, just a software update for the air bag module.
