Somehow if the car gets damaged by an accident that was unavoidable i can live with it, but if someone damages it on purpose or due to carelessness, it does drive me a little crazy. Like when I take it to a dealer and the mechanic does a great job but someone dings the door while they have it.

I've really enjoyed ALL my Corvettes - ALL bought new in cash. I didn't stretch to buy all of mine as many have done to buy there's. It's not life or death to me, as some /analfruitcakes make them out to be. Mine's just so pleasurable to own and drive. I'm glad I own one. As Tony Romo sez, "having one makes me a better person." #LOL!
I don't believe I've ever seen so much worry over a car before. From a simple dead battery to an oil change. God forbid someone park next to it. It's a car folks. Just treat it like one. Much bigger things in life to worry about.

You're never going to win this one.

Think what the op means is the ones that really believe that car is made of paper mache, defines them, whatever their deal is.
nothing wrong with being an enthusiast or keeping it nice but to say, insist the only way to wash a lousy car is with 4 buckets..sorry man Id lmao if I saw that.
It IS just a car, take one completely apart. What is it? A skeleton, nuts and bolts. That will really put it in perspective;they arent rare collector cars, thats C1-2 stuff so pile the miles on.
They were made to be driven lots and driven hard, anyone keep thier wife in a bubble or do they turn that odometer over?
For some I honestly think a picture would be easier for them to own.
