Had paint protective film put on and was frankly a bit surprised to see the shop hand me an iPad showing a page where you could apply a 10, 15 or 20% tip.
You could also give a custom amount or decline completely. Is this normal? Obviously on a PPF job this is a decent hunk of change.

My thoughts and I own a car wash and detail center to (do not do PPF) but I would think as I am getting my car wrapped next week as just got my car and a tip is always nice as we are driving expensive car and spending a few dollars on the wrap and if they do a great job a tip is always nice. In my business my employees always appreciate a tip and makes them stay and work harder on the next cars. I have had the same 3 detailers at my wash since I built 2.5 years ago and would say tips help them out and appreciate the work they do and we are not doing wraps which is a highly trained job plus a great value to your car...just my thoughts
Yea if they're using "Square" for their merchant processing, it would be done on an ipad with card reader and the tip section is standard on those systems.
The place I went to last week to order Korean BBQ carryout uses an iPad that shows that tip line. I hit None. If I'm paying hundreds of dollars for tinting, I'm not going to give them a tip. The tint is like $20, and the rest is the labor charge they want to install it. Why would you want to give them even more money?????? All those apps prompt you for a tip. It's the same app no matter what business is using it.
They are selling an overpriced product and service. They are being VERY well paid. No tip. I don't tip a mechanic either, or a doctor or dentist. A waiter that doesn't make jack, will get a tip if they provide good service. I don't like it, but thats what we do in the US...

I think it is a matter of time until dealers realize the profits possible on this. I know PPF is available as a build option but I'm told that is not the same as having a detail shop apply film made by one of the 3 big players.
