One of the best cars I ever owned was the buy back 86 Vette that I purchased in 1987. Had the car for 10 years and put a lot of miles on it. The reason the car was bought back was due to a problem with the new security system that GM introduced in 1986 which sometimes left the owner sitting for an hour or so before permitting the car to start. GM fixed that problem with the installation of redesigned parts and it never occurred again. The PO lost a great car because he didn't wait another 6 weeks. I got a great car because he didn't. What is somebody's lemon is a lot of times somebody else's pride and joy. Just because it is a buy back doesn't mean you would have turned it in for the same problems. Sometimes those problems fall into the who gives a **** category for 90+% of the people while the other 10% get all torqued off about things like squeaky brakes that don't matter.

I bought a 93 F350 Diesel pickup that was a lemon buyback. Took the truck to a dealer that actually knew HD trucks and they fitted a few new serpentine belt parts and the truck was still running great a 275,000 miles when I traded it in on a 2002. It was a first year for a serpentine belt on the 7.3 diesel. Growing pains, lack of communication and a dealer that did not really know the trucks. Most buy backs are actually simple problems made worse by lack of communication and trained techs.
At the right price and warranty, I would consider a buy back car. 30% below market value would be appropriate.

Burning Brakes
I bought one that is a branded title. The warranty is the same as any late model. In my particular case the car was a buyback for engine oil usage issues. The complete engine and electronic engine control were replaced by GM prior to my purchase. It runs perfectly now. I will be 70 this year so it is probably the last Vette I will buy. I feel that GM addressed the issues properly and with the extended warranty don't feel it will be a problem for me. I did get a very reasonable discount when I purchased and was told up front what the issue was and shown the warranty listing of repairs made after it was bought back. My daughter plans to keep the car after I expire so don't see it as a problem. It may not work for you but I got a lot of extra options on my car due to the discount.

Safety Car
DO NOT BUY a lemon car with a bad A8 transmission unless they are willing to put a NEW transmission in the car before you buy it. That would be the only way I would purchase it with the 30% discount.

This is the car.. I offered $30k and he was wanting $35K. Probably could have purchased for $32k or split the difference but I just walked away since it was a buy-back.. I figure I can wait until around xmas and buy one without the branded title..

Car was bought in 2015 from dealer and driven most its life in south Florida. Vehicle is in Like New condition. Exhaust was upgraded to Corsa full system and rear clip was painted red to match rest of car unlike the other vettes on the road. This vehicle is the full premium 3LT package which has heads up display, bose sound system ,premium leather interior etc. This is a beautiful vehicle that you will have lots of fun with for years to come. I am a private seller and only selling because i left florida to return back to Michigan winters and only can drive it 3 months out of the year. Please call for any additional info Thanks
