I just realized with the purchase of my 2017 Corvette, I got 5 years of ON-Star basic service. Part of that basic service is the Chevy Smart Driver, which keeps track of how often you go above 80MPH, hard breaking, hard acceleration etc etc. It then gives you a score, kind of like that progressive insurance tracker. Does anyone know how to disable that function from my service. Here in Utah the freeways have 80MPH speed limits as well as long on ramps to get yup to speed to merge with traffic going 80+. So you have fun and accelerate hard. Just don't like the idea of big brother recording how I drive.
I think if you look at the OnStar web site you will find the Smart Driver Program costs $5 per month or something like that and they send the data to you. If you want you can have it sent to your insurance company to get a discount. I paid for it for a few months after I got my 15 Z06 and found it was sort of flaky. It didn't understand how to account for all of the powering off corners, 150+ mph speeds, hard braking going on for 20 minutes at a time. I thought it would be a little more informative than it was so saved my $5 per month by canceling the plan. I still get OnStar messages about the Smart Driver program but there is no data connected to it. By the way I have the On Star Safe and Sound Plan which gives me crash notification. That is active on all 3 of my vehicles including the 2003 Tahoe. If I pay for minutes I can also activate each vehicle's cell phone which comes in handy in low service areas. The OnStar antenna usually can connect the car's cell phone to a tower when the poor antenna in your hand held is sucking wind and the display says NO SERVICE.
