2016 c7 conv top damage
Update: Unfortunately the Duragloss did not take out the stains. Since my last writing two new spots have shown up (see attachment). I am going to contact the dealer regarding a replacement top. If they refuse, then I will write Chevy. I may look into getting it tanned as well.
My first reaction was you were "pooling" something in the cracks when folded in the "down" position. Too much of a coincidence that this occurs right after having hydraulic issues. I would not WRITE GM, I would call them. This is NOT normal...in fact I've never heard of an issue quite like this.

Happy to say as a last resort to a new top, went back to local Top Shop and talked to owner. He wanted to give it another try, and after 3 hours of work got the material out of the twill fabric top. He used SIKAFLEX PRO SELECT DE-GREASER AND SOME WHITE GAS. The substance and how it got on the top are still an issue. I believe it was deposited on the top, not seeping from underneath, and since it appeared after going into the dealer for two days to fix "hydraulic pump" failure for the top, seems very coincidental. Thanks to those members who gave various ideas on solutions.
As I own a convertible C7, too, it's of high interest to me. It's awfully coincidental that the residue appeared exactly on the roof over the support beams. This was what was troubling to me. I appreciate your posting on this and photos.
Followup: I contacted them via their website including picture. I never received a response. Guess they are too busy supplying gm with convertible tops !
I have the same issue (although not as bad) developing on my 2015 which is now 3 1/2 years old, and it just started showing up last week. After seeing this thread I would bet it's something coming from underneath through the top material some how; I originally thought it was just something got on the top because mine sits outside and it spread out when the top was down in the 95-100 degree heat we get this time of year; or maybe just the top somehow wearing out, de-fuzzing in these areas.
Wish I had seen this thread before I bought Ragg Topp cleaner (previously I cleaned the top weekly with vacuum, plain water or soap and water depending on how dirty it was).
Worse comes to worse, I'll buy some of the Renovo black fabric top reviver to re-dye the top or live with it since I virtually drive the car with the top down all the time and it's up when parked.
If the material is sticky to the touch try putting a degreaser on it with a toothbrush and then wipe after a few. This is what i finally used to extract the material from the top.
A degreaser can be white gas, paint thinner, or commercial degreaser. Also, don't dye your top until you get out the material, otherwise it will probably come through the
dye at some point. Good luck!
Per previous recommendation, have opened a claim with GM for a new convertible top. Only other alternative was to re-dye. The top cannot be cleared of substance damage.
Glad to hear about opening a claim with GM for a new convertible top.👍
Update: GM declined my warranty request for a new top. Reason was I tried some cleanup on it with a de-greaser and that voided it. So between them and the dealer no help or support at all. Just ordered a new top from GM via my top shop in phoenix. Total cost/install around 2k. F*ck GM and the dealer !
It looks like it is right on the crease line when it folds down into the rear....I would try one of those coin operated power washers....soap it up good and then rinse it...

I have been told by my top shop installer that TwillFast is treated with fabric protection and will not take any dye application. Only option is a new top.
Bob Holinski: I thought I read it somewhere on the forum. I don't know for a fact that the 3LT's interior liner is upgraded. No idea what the 2LT's like.
Lude: That's just SUCK. Here, you were trying to help them (GM) out with a simple DIY fix, then THIS! Damn, just damn.......
Sometimes you just have to part with over a thousand bucks on part replacement and repair cost on these exotic modes of transportation that we ALL love.
California PopTop
I wanted to relay that post a new top for my C7 as a result of defective or misuse at the dealer, I stumbled upon a pretty good product from California Pop Top. This top is easy to install, covers all windows, blocks 99% of UV Rays, Water Resistant, can be used with coupe or convert. So much better than full car cover !! About $100.00 at manufacturer or Eckler's online.
I have enclosed a picture (hopefully). Cools the inside better than just a sunshade on windshield.
Thanks

Reason: Picture
That's a terrific accessory, especially for our treasured C7 convertibles.
I recall variants of this partial topper, that only covered from the windshield, sides and stopped at the rear of the convertible top. It's certainly not needed coverage to the rear end of the car.
Great item......but the C7 vert only needs coverage to the rear of the convertible top. Not waay back to the rear spoiler. Do they not have a true convertible topper?

The PopTop is secured by looping through the left and right corners of the trunk lid. As I stated originally, the top covers both a convertible and coupe.
My deck iid was not closing properly it was skewed and not aligned with the waterfall. I saw a cable on the frame for the top for the rear window defrost had come loose and was causing the deck lid not to seal properly. It was rubbing on the tape and insulation and would possibly caused a short eventually. The technician fastened it properly and also tightened the waterfall which is where the lock for the deck is. I suggest you inspect the cable when you are putting the top down or up. Stop at the position where you see the cable, see it is secure and not rubbing, look at it when you are raising it and closing it. The cable is on the right hand side.
