Yet another Mag Ride upgrade question
I’ve read nearly every thread on this subject. I took my car into the dealer this week. They have not done an upgrade yet, and I don’t think they understand the procedure. In the GM document it discusses results in Tour, Sport, and Track mode. They are under the impression that I have to choose one of those driving modes, and it’s not for all three. I left without doing anything. Am I right in assuming it’s one download that affects all three driving modes.

I would find another dealer , I had mine done last week of June and the dealers service writer and tech both told me what and how it was to be done. When they enter your VIN GM will give them a GM part number that will be installed in software update. After mine was done a noticed a difference to tour and sport I don't drive in the other modes so I can't mention about changes in those modes. In one of the other threads there was a posting of a picture showing what changes where made in each mode , I can't find that picture now.
My car is a 17 GS

Yes your description is correct. The upgrade to the magnetic ride (drastically) effects all the drive modes.
I will second the recommendation--find another dealer. I had an epic search to find a dealer that had a clue about the procedure and ended up finding one about 100 miles away. It was however worth the drive. When I showed up they had 5 Vette's currently being worked on and many more parked (in a special lot with security fence) waiting. The service manager knew some of the details of the procedure but the tech was very familiar. I drove it home, let it sit 24 hours, and the difference was remarkable. Touring mode feels super smooth and sport feels like touring did before the upgrade. The roads here are rough and I haven't played with track mode much. (I did at Spring Mountain but not on public roads.)

My dealer said they have done a couple and the customers said they didn't really notice much difference. They sure were discouraging me from doing it.

My dealer told me there were two versions for my '17 GS - optimized for daily driving or optimized for the track. I chose the daily driving and notice it most on highways where it is noticeably softer on rough roads. A friend chose the track option and now finds Track Mode is too stiff for him to autocross.

Give the service guy the part number for the update, (found in another thread), it's stupid easy for the tech to do, (he calls, gives the VIN, Chevy downloads the update, he installs it), and it's really only about 30 mins of time.

I think the other post indicates the correct Cal. # for a GS is 84421869. I agree from all I have read that there is only one versions for your car, granted there are different cal # depending on the car U have, GS, Z51, or Z06.

If you look at the poll here about 80% of people think it was good or really good. Very few people report that they "can't tell a difference."

Just got upgrades done on our 2016 Z51 and Z06. Feel an improvement in smoothness in touring in both, but I feel the difference in the Z06/Z07 more. Would recommend. Dealer is experienced with Vettes and took care of everything as soon as the upgrade was mentioned.

koranke thanks for the post.
I agree with the numbers. Had my 14 z51 done yesterday and it seems more than a 20% difference. I could tell immediately when I left the dealership. My wife said she could tell the difference(She may have just been being nice. lol). Definitely less harsh over sharp bumps. Totally worth the upgrade IMO.

After about 8 months on the street (and a second trip to Bloomington Gold with no bent wheels this time) and a few charity laps at VIR, I'm happy with the upgrade. Any track improvements would be lost on me.

Just took my 2015 Z51 to the dealership for upgrade while getting oil changed. Dealer told me that I had to pay $350 for software plus ~2hrs time for a total of $692 plus tax? This is after three trips/telephone conversations regarding the fix (that they did not know anything about). Is this what everyone is paying?

No, that dealer is attempting a rip off. You pay for the software upgrade only and GM pays the dealer for 30 minutes of labor, which is more than enough to do it, if the tech knows what he/she is doing.
Find another dealer.

Back last spring when the MRC upgrade was first unfolding, I approached a local dealer who quoted me $650. He said he couldn't tie up his only Corvette tech for such a small job. I thought to myself, maybe you should in the interest of earning a new customer, and after that experience I won't be one.

I recently took mine (2016 Stingray 3LT) in for the update. Initially, on top of the $350, the dealer was going to charge tax and a service fee which brought the total to nearly $400. After some debate, the dealer waived the fees. This was my first time using this dealer for the vette. They insisted that the car stay overnight and even provided a loaner car. My only request was that my car be placed inside overnight, which they gladly did. Once I picked the car up, I did not notice much if any difference in any of the modes. I also went to the online TIS software site to check for the update associated with my VIN. It's not populating which has me concerned as the dealer seemed new to the update as I had to supply the information . It seemed that they'd never heard of it, although initially the service writer stated he knew of it.
