Starting with a just-washed car, two hours in Nebraska did this to our C6.
When we got home, using the pressure wand at the car wash caused a tsunami of dead bugs to flow out the front of the car.
After spray washing them off the exterior, I had the tech at the dealership use his air gun from behind the radiator and that cleaned things up nicely.
EDIT: Note the dead bird in the grill.

i just returned from a trip to apparently, egypt? (exodus' plague of locust).
Not really, but i did just drive from craters of the moon national park here in idaho and encountered a series of locust swarms on our way home. It was horribly tragic, and i'm sure the locust did like it either.

You need to place a mesh screen in front of your radiator blades. ALL my vehicles have had them installed since Day 1. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to savvy what to do! LOL!
My new C7 hasn't been subjected to highway speeds with pestilence such as you describe, and less than bright bulbs like the guy that imbedded his new C7 with grasshopper carcasses pictured above did! Lol!
Get some screen and install it! Not so hard!
I lived in Nebraska as a kid during the 1950s, and my dad always had bug screens installed on his cars during the appropriate times of the year, so this isn't such an unusual idea. They were custom made to fit each car model.
Try a web search. They're still available, a nylon mesh I think, though they mostly now seem to be more generic than custom fitted,.
I always heard that Muriatic Acid will clean front ends beautifully. Douse or spray on. Let some dwelling time take place. Then power jet spray the areas. 👍

ALL my cars and trucks/RVs, going back 45 years have had bug screening applied either over OR under (behind) the grilles to protect the radiators from bugs, sand, Cottonwood tree cotton, etc. I've got some gutter guard PVC screening I'm going to affix to the outside of the C7's grille work on either side of the Texas front license plate. I'll have photos soon. 👍
Nice try Skidmark!
So the guts won't stick and muck up the screen? Who da thunk? You're brilliant.
jaywalker, nice moronic try!
After looking at all the locusts/grasshoppers and assorted cr@p in your front end photo/description here - you've won the Darwin Award for moronic behavior posts here! Who da thunk!!??😛
Jaylars ^^^ Darwin Award for grasshoppers I'm bedded in radiator! !
Saw this thread. Once you have bugs in the radiator, how do you get them out?The radiator is way behind the grill. Is the grill easy to remove? Is there another way? Just shooting the hose at it with a pressure nozzle doesn't seem to do much.
I'm
I can see where a mesh install might be good for high speed street driving, but first I need to get the existing bugs out.
OK, here's a red letter day. I'm going to agree with our buddy Joe. I use an old fashion nylon screen that I bought from Autozone (approx. 6 bucks) in front of the radiator of my F-150. It's just clipped in with some of those black paper clips. It's big enough to cut in two pieces, so you have an extra when one is to far gone. When it needs cleaning I just pull it out, clean it, and put it back in front of the radiator. Works great. See Joe, we can agree on something.
The nylon screen is also soft enough to be put behind the Corvette grill with a little work. I use it the same way, but only on road trips. I've been in grasshopper's so big (in the mid-west) I've heard them say, "You want to eat him here, or do carry out". I stopped at a Mickey D's for a drink, and the birds were eating the hoppers off the grill when I came back to the car. Those are some of the biggest grass hoppers I've ever seen.

Wow, 45 years? When reading your posts, many would assumed you were much younger. Maybe 12 or 13ish.

Grille screens are a MUST. ALL my vehicles are very pricey, and ALL of 'em are protected too. 👍
I can say that I wouldn't drive my new C7, without screening of some sort. It's rather silly to get that cr@p crammed up your radiators - but there's always a loon that likes to. #LOL!
Those that drive without it are really looking stupid here. It's a no-brainer!

It's just a car. But if you need a block of instruction on how to clean your front coolers when they get dirty, PM me and I can walk you through it. It's so easy a 12 year old can do it. So I have some faith you can do it as well.
