I'll just keep using the antiquated measly Mobil 1 5W-30 until the 0W-40 falls close to the same price and becomes readily available. No need to "Chicken Little" over this new oil.

I agree as I initially was going to continue using the 5W-30 as well since that's what originally came in my '17 GS, however finally decided to go with the 0W-40 since it does provide less wear on engine for cold-weather starts and I do sometimes start/drive my C7 on sunny cold winter days if no salt on roads. But really as long as not tracking your car, it's probably makes little difference either way.

Same here. It's only needed if you track your car and don't want to change oil back to 5W30 after. No need to use it in my case. If they are side by side at Walmart for the same price I might grab it. We'll see if that ever happens. Doesn't really matter.

Your comment makes no sense Al. GM chose to start using this oil in the C7 for a reason, they aren't getting any monetary gain out of it. GM doesn't really care whether you use 5w30 or the new 0w40, but there are very clear benefits to the new oil if you do some research about it, and the benefits aren't just for those people that track their cars and want to eliminate the swapping back and forth between 15w50 and 5w30 all the time.

Be aware that if you mean Fleabay seller collins8575, he has very poor communications. I ordered and he quickly sent me a Fedex tracking number. But after a while, he did not tender it to Fedex. So I asked and he said it was going to ship the following Monday. Never did. Then I asked again and he confessed it was out of stock. I disputed the charge and he shipped it a few days later. It did come as advertised, but if you notice he has few reviews.

Oh oh you don't think GM makes money off this, of course I know your kidding yourself, and they decided to come up with this five years later after the 7th been on the market so I'm not sure what that means 5 years later, they decide, let's make some more money let's scam these guys some more. But, is your cash, do whatever u want.

For owners who track their C7s and wish to comply with the warranty it's a boon over 5W30 in that the requirement to change the oil before going to the track and again afterwards disappears...

GM was getting grief from Corvette owners about having to change their oil every time they track their car so they were able to convince EXXON/Mobil to repackage the European 0W40 into a container that said dexos and charge twice as much.
Like a lot of other owners I'll continue to use 5W30 in my car. Buy it for $4.57 a quart($22.88 for 5 qt. jug, then with the $12 rebate it's less than $2.25 a quart. It's a no brainer since I'm changing it at about 5K miles with no track time.
