Since my torch red '14 1lt Z51 Conv 7MT is a keeper, I was thinking of having a single (offset) racing stripe added.
Now along with the red comes black wheels, calipers, Z06 grill, stage one splitter, side skirts, and soft top. I was thinking of adding a black stripe maybe 2 - 3 inches
wide, offset to one side the length of the car (nothing added to the soft top). After a brief search it looks like about 6 bills for a vinyl one done professionally (don't dare attempt this myself) and maybe
close to a grand for one painted...a lot of dough but if done tastefully?
Well what do you, the Vette crew think? Don't hold back....a dumb way to spend hundreds of bucks? Any past experiences yourself?
If money is an not an issue and you like an offset stripe, why not. I personally do not like the look of a stripe, especially one that is not centered.
It would be different since I doubt there are any C7 Corvettes with offset racing stripes. I haven't seen offset racing stripes in years. I wouldn't have it painted since you may find you don't like it after a while.
Don't they make some kind of black painters tape you could experiment with? I know the make black masking and duck tape, but that would have too much adhesive.

I have always thought stripes are fine if they are actually used for their intended purpose. If its just for looks, I think its a bit pretentious. After reading this, I remembered I have stripes on my '68 Camaro OOPS!!

Reason: Because I can
Prefer understated additions, so am thinking about adding "stealth stripes" to my WGG C7 like those below.
IMO thin stripes look tacky, and not a fan of off center stripes of any size..
Hey, it's your car; if it's something you like then do it! It doesn't matter a twit what anyone else thinks, here or elsewhere!
Were it me and intending to keep the car long-term I'd go with paint.
Of course, you can buy a vinyl stripe the width you suggest for almost nothing and install it yourself. (It probably would be easier to do centered.) Then peel off if you don't like or have it painted once you've seen the look.
Here ya go... I like stripes on some cars. Not sure if I'm sold on the C7 yet. There's a lot going on already and I think the stripes just tend to detract from the overall design. Just my 02
