What's the forums take on this?
I received this Email reply from an organization. I do not intend to name them as it doesn't appear to be of any fault of their own.
"There is still no stock on the part to try a third time. They closed our case as for the part doesn't match your VIN so they won't support it.
We either wait in line, or have to cancel.
There is no DEALER in the US or anywhere within GM that can get this for you any faster. Your call, just let us know!"
Name omitted "has tried everything up to this point to help. "
Sounds like GM has a shortage of parts and any parts that become available will be allocated to cars that need them based on their build configuration. If your car wasn't built with this part then you won't get any help from GM to expedite delivery to you as you don't really need it while there are others that need it.

Which, in a parts shortage scenario, I can kinda see their logic.
To the OP, what kind of part are we talking about? Something that keeps the car from being driven?
It’s not an operational part, it a beatification item. The point was that the firm ordered it once and shipped to me. Instead of the item being Kalahari, it was Adrenaline Red. The part number on the box was for Kalahari. Item was returned and a new part reordered. Before shipping to me the firm checked item. Red, not Kalahari. A total of three tries. This indicates s larger issue than availability, but a mislabeling issue, leading to an inventory issue. Dumping it off because my VIN doesn’t have Kalahari instead of delving deeper seems to take the lazy way out. I didn’t clearly state it all in OP.

Yeah...that would be maddening to say the least.
In the absence of an OEM part, have you thought of maybe checking with a forum vendor like APSIS? I've only bought some carbon fiber parts from them, but I believe they offer matching leather interior parts as well. Not sure how prices compare, but it might be better than waiting on an indefinite GM parts shortage.
Is it something you can have covered? Or, simply wait long enough (whatever that might be) for it to get sorted at GM and try again. If you have the correct part number documented, simply order from a dealer periodically and open the correctly numbered box at the counter when it is handed to you, with the staff watching. Btw, I've never needed a VIN to order anything as long as I was paying... the operative part was ME paying.

I'm sorry but using the capitalized above is too funny in this instance. Are you Roman Catholic by chance? Look up this definition please, I'm so BAD-sorry.
If this was not the case; go by local GM dealer to order part. Expediting part may require Repair Order. GMSPO has some resources for dealers related to back ordered parts. "Cars in shop" parts orders take priority over counter sales. Some accessories can be "ship direct" GMSPO doesn't stock inventory so you are at the mercy of the supplier. You could discuss situation with Chevrolet customer assistance. If it's a situation where GM is not going to release a new part. Thr correct part that is wrong color maybe able to be "dyed" to correct color. In the old days most interior trim was paint or dye to match. Good Luck.
