Good afternoon everyone. I was wondering if anyone here can recommend a really good radar detector. I have heard of two: The Valentine One and Rocky Mountain Radar. I was wondering if anyone has had personal experiences with either of these and if there are better tech out there.
I use the "Speed Limit Plus 5" system ... It has the advantage of being very inexpensive (i.e.; FREE), has no need for software updates, and is equally effective against radar, laser, lidar, ESP and avoiding extraterrestrial speed traps.
Don’t speed, don’t need one, win win.
Or use Waze, with one or all of the Valentine, Escort, or Uniden products, and you’ll probably be fine, for a while, but without a laser jammer, If you’re a habitual speeder, you’ll eventually be toast.
Not sure about the Rocky Mountain Radar Rammer.
Good luck!
I appreciate all the sincerely helpful information. It’s good to hear everyone’s thoughts. To those who say simply “don’t speed” I didn’t buy a Z06 to do 55mph. Every now and again every corvette owner will float above the speed limit. So I’m just trying to take precautions, understanding NOTHING is guaranteed. I do know l plan on cruising as well as gibing it some gas.
go with the R3 redenso is also good range is shorter then the uniden but it has better filtering of the Blind spot monitors for now. Uniden is waiting for a free upgrade to the firmware due out soon
R3 here and it's great but the supplied smart cord is a POS, first one snapped at the base, bought a new one and it came broken the exact same place. Just saying.

In my area there are more unmarked cop cars than unmarked ones, and they don't use radar. They just appear out of nowhere then pull you over for speeding after following you. A few weeks ago I sensed the coast was clear, so I was exceeding 60 for a while. A vehicle far behind me decided to roar past me to show me how it was done, but he didn't realize an unmarked car was behind him. That car flew past me doing at least 100 mph to catch and pull that guy over.
I don't bother with radar detectors anymore, but there are marked cars around shooting radar or lidar.

A properly utilized radar detector is absolutely worth it if you drive long distances. Its less useful around town and for short trips, but during those times, there's not really a benefit in speeding. The majority of people never really master the use of a radar detector, so they don't ever get the value out of it. Put an R3 together with Waze and some situational awareness you will be able to run an entire tank of fuel through your car at 100 mph.
I've been an Escort/passport guy for years. However the new Uniden R3 is the best IMO at the moment. I absolutely love it. Coupled with Waze it's a tough combo to beat.
I have tried a few, but stayed with Valentine. You really can get addicted to the arrows. I also like the very simple interface. I can customize the sweeps if desired using my iPhone, but when driving the mute and volume are simple and logical. Alerts are bright enough to see during the day.
