Default Extended Warranties on new C7 - Yes or No?

The dealer that I'm buying my 2019 Grand Sport from is offering me the following GM extended warranties:
Bumper to Bumper for ownership years 4-5-6: $1,885, $100 Deductible
Tires and Wheels for years 4 & 5: $649
Keys for years 4 & 5: $449

Are any or all of the above warranties a good deal, did you purchase them, would you do it again, are there better extended warranties elsewhere?

Thanks for any input.

If you really want an extended warranty, don't buy one from anyone else other than Fichtner Chevrolet in Montana

gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com

(they're a forum vendor and you won't get a better deal from anyone)

Really depends on your comfort level. I will say this: Extended warranties are a profit center. Those who offer them are betting that you won't have a problem. Actuarial tables prove they are correct, but if it makes you sleep better at night, it might be worth it to you regardless.

Find out if it is a GM warranty or a third party one that the dealer sells. Keys doesn't seem like a good value, you can get a spare fob from forum vendors and get them programmed to you vehicle for less than that. I think the owners manual has a procedure that you can program a new fob yourself. If you have the A8, give the warranty some serious thought. Just my opinion, YMMV.

Gmepp warranty with the 100 deductible is a good deal.

The rest i would pass on.

i do recommend shopping the forum vendors for the gmepp warranty as traditionally they offer better pricing and its the same warranty.

ive had 3new corvettes and ive purchased the gmpp warranty. Today gmpp is not the one to purchase as they dont have access to the gm database for ease of payment to the dealer for service. I believe gmpp is now through a seperate company called ally bank.

make sure now you purchase gmepp warranty through either a supporting forum vendor or your dealer whoever offers the better price which i believe it will be a supporting vendor.

traditionally I would suggest purchasing before 30 months and 30k miles ..but if you prefer to purchase now thats supposedly slightly less expensive, make sure you warranty time and mileage are what you will use for the vehicle. Its also transferrable so the next owner will have peace of mind when he purchases the vehicle from you.

good luck with that awesome car. I personally would pass on the tire and the key insurance. I think thats over the top.

I bought a GMPP warranty on my C5. 72 month/75k miles, I think - its been a long time....

I hated betting against the car, but I can say it paid for itself and then some.
And I ran it out of time before I ran it out of miles.

Parts and labor certainly have not gotten any cheaper, so ya, I bought it again when I got the C7.
Unlike the 5, the 7 is not really a DD, but I’ll run this one out of time before miles, too.
THat said, after 4 years, I have not had the need to use it (hedging, yet)

Whatever you do, only go with the GM extended warranty offerings. No third party. My Chevy dealer tried hard to sell me on a third party warranty program. All I was trying to do was write a check to pay in full for my new Corvette.

So, as I opened my checkbook to write the check for the new C7, I got this hard core press from the Finance Mgr. Here's what was odd/funny: when I declined all his various attempts to sell me on the third party programs, I asked; "tell me about the GM Factory Extended Warranty Programs?" He replied; "oh, you can always come back later on to see about those " I kid you not! He had zero interest in even presenting the GM Factory Extended Warranty to me!

#LOL!

you don't have to make a decision now. With the Fichtner GMEPP warranty everybody recommends, including me; you can wait till the end of the 36 month/36000 mile BTB warranty and buy another 6 years and user choice miles so you can have up to nine years BTB warranty, BEFORE THE ORIGINAL MILES/MONTHS expires, whichever comes first.

but 3 years from now is maybe 2 years into the C8 generation, and you may not want to spend $1500-2000 for an extended warranty on a C7 if you are drooling over the dropping prices of C8's after the newness wears off.
or
you may get a problematic C7, and be ready to sell/trade-in long before the original warranty expires.

this is one time where pay Fichtner later for an extended warranty is better than pay the dealer now for one at car purchase.

In 10 yr, I will have 20,000 mi on our '17 so probably won't get an extended. We had our '03 C5 up to 2017 and never had it in to dealer for any repair work even once. Maybe just lucky. I did just pop for $4400 to extend my BMW warranty another 3 yr, but then again its a BMW

I'll give you the same advice as I always post. If you got an A8 and plan on keeping it beyond the expiration of the power train warranty, get the longest GM (not Ally) warranty from Dennis. Otherwise, you will be paying for the repair, no GM, when the A8 or torque converter eventually goes.

Really depends on how much you drive your vette. Every GM vehicle I've ever owned including 4 previous vettes started having issues around 50,000 miles. By the time they hit 75,000 miles, something expensive has been replaced at least once that would deft make the extended warranty worth it. If the car sits in your garage and will have 5,000 miles on it after 3 years, I probably wouldn't be concerned about the extended warranty.

I usually get more extended warranty than I will need because the GMEPP warranty is transferrable to a new owner and that feature helps me sell my car and get a good price for it. I would wait until my 3/36 almost runs out.

We vote no, but we're here to help you void your warranty in the first place. If you do get a warranty get it from the dealer before you buy your car. The aftermarket warranties are crap and they will never stop calling you for the rest of your life trying to sell you another.

My neighbor is a local Chevy tech.He says the drivetrains are solid.....but the electronics is many times a trouble spot AND expensive to replace.

For me,the warranty is a must IF you keep the car after the 3/36 warranty is out.

Way overpriced... you are buying a 3 year warranty, which, if you wait until month 35 of your ownership, you can buy a 5 or even 6 year b2b for much less than they are offering (forum vendor).
Silly to buy a warranty that overlaps your current one, and does no good until year 4. Tell them you'll pass on their offer.

Three points:

As others will mention, the companies price their warranties so they take in more from premiums than they pay out, on the average.
Most people could grudgingly afford to pay for most repairs on a C7, but could you handle the rare cost of needing a complete new engine or multiple electronic problems?
We've had GM (now, Chevrolet Protection Plan) extended warranties on three Corvettes and "made money" on every one of them. Sometimes, the companies ain't so smart or you're just unlucky.
If you take long trips, the convenience of free repairs and a loaner car can save your vacation.

The price of the plan goes up when you buy a later rather than sooner. Generally, if you are going to keep the car a long time and put on a lot of miles, it's better to buy the warranty before the first price point jump. On GM, I believe that's 10k miles. If you're going to sell/trade it soon after the 3/36 runs out, wait until a month before that point.

Denis Fichtner is the man to see and get quotes from, and most folks find his prices to be excellent.

Either way, enjoy the car!
