Wife and I looked at and test drove this Vette at Bob Howard GMC, (Oklahoma) the salesman said the issues with the ECU were fixed. after getting home and looking at the Car/Fax the car had major issues and as far as we can tell never fixed, thought the Sales Guy was full of crap ????? anyone familiar with this car ??? https://www.bobhoward.com/details/?v...-Z06-3LZ-Coupe

Probably not the first time a car salesman ever told a lie.
I wouldn't purchase a 'buy-back' car for any reason, too many great deals on straight C7s out there.

Unless you bought the car new as the original buyer, Lemon Laws don't cover used cars anywhere.
I have to wonder why people buy any car, especially used, far, far out-of-State. You're 1,400 miles away and basically SOL.
Folks, learn from others here.

How do you know the issues weren't fixed. Car Fax wouldn't document a fix only a complaint. Once the car was purchased back it may well have been fixed or in a small number of cases there really wasn't anything wrong with it. Some people complain about a car from day one and run off to the dealer about every imaginary thing. The next person that owns the car wonders what the first person was smoking as they find nothing wrong with the car.

A branded title, like a diamond, is forever. At your (next) trade-in of it, dealers will start the discussion, "Well, we don't really want the car; with the branded title we will immediately have to wholesale/send it to auction" And after you make your sales pitch of what a great car it is, really! They will say "ok, bend over the table for this favor we are going to do for you" Your mileage won't vary on this, unless the branded title happened to be on a Ferrari F40.

Maybe there really isn't anything wrong, and the last owner was just a complainer. Maybe there really was something wrong. Do you want to play Russian Roulette, pay the $60K and find out? There are plenty of sub-$70K used Z06's out there, with less miles than this one. Keep looking.

It's unfortunate that they didn't look at the Carfax before buying the car. Maybe it didn't cross their minds.

I bought a very low miles heavily loaded GS buyback. It showed an oil consumption issue. I have the GM warranty service print out where it shows the entire engine being replaced in a few miles just before I purchased it. Runs great no issues. Of course it is no longer numbers matching. Big deal this car has little to make it something special.

Unless its an amazing deal I would walk away. Agree, there are far too many nice used examples out there without the blemished title which will absolutely kill resale value when you try to unload it.
That said, I do agree that for some auto's its not a big deal specifically if you are buying a car that you will run to the end of its lifespan. I did just that with a G6 convertible that my son wanted when he turned 16. The car was a GM buyback from Cali lemon law. These cars had issues with the hard top convertible mechanism but the car was only a year old with remainder of full GM warranty and the top had been completely replaced - $5K part. This was an 06' model that I purchased back in 07'. Fast forward 11 years and 110K miles and the car has been flawless he's still driving it. It has to be said though that I purchased this car from a GM dealer and for nearly 1/2 price of what the used cars of the same age and miles were going for at that time. I figured even we decided to sell it a few years down the road it would not be much of a loss.
What has been said about trying to trade in a car with a salvage title is completely truthful. Most dealers will not touch them and/or will take them off your hands for $500. I see these salvage title vehicles for sale all the time for a few grand less than clean versions and cannot believe people are naive enough to pay anywhere near these prices being asked. No matter how pristine they are none of them are worth more than 50% of the value of a clean car of the same make, model year.
