Default Code issue with new exhaust installed

I have a 2017 GS with the NPP exhaust. While at Carlisle I had The B&B bullet exhaust installed. I am now getting the check engine indicator with the code P12FD-00 which I was told is saying that the baffles are stuck in the open position, Does anyone know what has to done to stop this error code from coming up

Thanks

Do you still have all the NPP valves? If not, that's your problem.

I did a muffler delete and I'm not using the npp valves. I disconnected them and zip tied the harnesses out of the way, so I don't think the valves are your issue

Well, they are. It appears that checking the valve movement is all part of the car boot-up process. There are other threads on this issue.

I'm not so sure about that. Many guys have pulled the fuse for the valves, not allowing them to move. If the car checked the valve movement on each startup then everyone that has pulled the fuse would have a problem. My valves have been sitting in my garage and I have zero issues as well.

The exhaust was replaced from the X pipe back. Where would the NPP valves be found. I would think the installers are Carlisle would know what to do to properly install the new exhaust

Thanks

Assuming your GS has an automatic transmission you have two sets of valves in the factory exhaust. One set is called AFM valves. These valves close when the engine goes into 4 cylinder mode (AFM) to prevent the exhaust from sounding like it’s farting. These valves can’t be disabled without throwing a Check engine light. Manual GSs eliminated the AFM valves.

The 2nd set of valves come with cars equipped with NPP exhaust, which the GS has by default. These valves are located in the outer exhaust tips. They control the exhaust volume levels based on your setting, ie tour, sport, track, etc. Some folks pull the fuse controlling these valves so they stay open all the time. They will not throw a check engine light.

That said, I would check if the AFM valves are properly connected and still functioning properly.
