Default Infotainment Screen

New member and I wanted you all to beware of the infotainment screen. I lowered the screen and put my iPhone behind the screen for the first time, it shifted and the screen would not come down. After working on it ourselves, we took it in to the dealer and $500 later my phone was out and I will NEVER put anything behind there again. The dealer said that "yes, things shift and the screen will not come down if the screen senses something may be blocking the screen. It is best to put velcro or something to anchor the item so it does not shift." It would have been good for the manufacturer to put that in the manual, I may have decided at that point not to put my phone there (even though there is a port back there for the phone). And also, we do have the extended warranty but it does not cover the screen getting stuck.

Never use that space. All that is in there is a USB drive with music on it.

I use that space all the time, I keep my extra pair of shades in there as well as the gate card. Never had an issue like above.

Keep my sunglasses there... I won't be amused if I have issues down the road, though. So far, so good.

That's one big bill to swallow! But I think that is a rather rare occurrence. It was probably a perfect storm that brewed inside that storage area. But I should be more careful myself. Though I don't know if the door can detect if something is jammed. I think the door just simply won't open when something gets wedged in its way.

I never put stuff back there anyhow, but after reading about member theplatinumog and how his wallet was stuck back there and the battery died, and it took him days before they could fix it and retrieve his wallet, I am more sure than ever that I won't use that space for anything.

First time I used it my iphone cord kept getting in the way of it closing. It just opened back up. Thankfully it never jammed. Whew.

Rule of thumb on the cubby: Don't put anything in there too big or heavy that it won't slide toward the front of the car with an abrupt deceleration. That's how I got my wallet out the one time it jammed. Never had a problem since.

Good point. My wallet won't be going in there again. Even though I have a new 42 month battery you just never know. I'll just put the junk I can live without in there.

I like that idea, don't want to have to try it, but I will remember it!

Debit card incredibly hard but went inside dash was gone - never put anything in there anymore - dont want anymore screen issues after new one installed - just leave it up never to be used again - cant trust them

Had the same thing happen to me on my 1st day with the car. Put my iPhone X and it got wedged on the screen.. Luckily it got stuck and at half open and i was able to stick my hands back there to move it out of the way.

Head unit for a HAM radio is in mine. I use it to talk on Chanel 7 with the rest of the caravan handhelds. I never have a AA battery failure no matter how long the caravan drives.
