Default Do you wax your Vette by hand or using an orbital buffer?

Very curious about the different waxing methods? I am currently doing it by hand, and using Mother's Synthetic Wax. I am considering getting an orbital buffer such as the Ryobi wireless 18V, 10" buffer.

I am trying to justify the purchase, in my case, it should serve two purposes, one it lets me take care of a few scratches and two it should help speed up the waxing process of the car and hope I get a professional look?!? I am not sure, so I am asking my Forum buddies for advice. What do you recommend to wax/buff a long beach red car? Is it worth buying the buffer? Do you recommend any other wireless buffer? Please let me know! thanks!

I've always done waxing by hand, until I bought my c7 in black.

I bought a Rupes Bigfoot buffer to do a paint correction and later found out I can also use it to apply wax. Using this to apply wax went so much faster than using a tiny pad by hand.

Griots makes a good cordless unit. I don't think the one you are looking at would remove scratches unless you can change the pad. Have you tried a polish and seal in one bottle like Blackfire? Sealants are much easier to apply and remove then wax. Plus they last a lot longer on the finish.

I only use a DA (Porter Cable & Griot's) for cutting and polishing. Most of the time I detail by hand, but a new toy like that can still be easily justified

I wax by hand as I feel I have better control resulting in a better overall finish.
Besides a C7 convertible doesn't have a lot of body surface so is not that difficult to do by hand. I enjoy it, and my finish satisfies me.

Looks like a nice buffer. Be aware what you will be doing is really polishing.

I have owned a black ‘12 Camaro and because of the color I have learned all about polishing the car to remove imperfections and obtain a “black mirror” finish.

It it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to achieve this result.

Gong forward I am switching to XPel so I can get my weekends back.

If you want to go the wax route after polishing, I am a big fan of the black fire products.

I use two RO buffers on my DD and my wife's vehicle but always wax my Corvette by hand. I enjoy doing it by hand and I get a closer look at the paint that way.

Zaino by hand. Once you get the first few steps done the maintenance is a breeze.

I have always waxed my cars by hand. While it takes longer, I have been pleased with the results.

No need to "wax" your C7. You're wasting your time.

The only periodic finishing necessary is a non-petroleum based Mist N Shine product, and a microfiber cloth. WIZARDS, manufactures the perfect mist n shine finish detail product.

I don't know, I think most guys here take pretty good care of their cars. What I'm getting at is I think a basic mist on wax/sealant is good enough. I've been using a spray wax for years now and have always been happy with the results.

Use DA for cutting, polishing and sealant. Use hand application for final finish coat.

Meguiar's Ultimate products (Liquid wax, then spray Quick wax as needed) . Tried quite a few but always come back to Meguiars.

I see you are new here, and will probably learn as most of us have that Skid Row Joe's posts are more intended to just disagree and disrupt threads than to serve any productive purpose.
